Q:

ATN MK410 Spartan review with NEW PICS!!

Finally got my 410 nv scope

so for quick review .

first off there is plenty of snow on the ground ,and nothing is really pitch black even the sky is dark grey. so this is probably going to have some affect .

first a little larger and heavier than the 390 , but not too bad.

the pros are about 50-75 percent less fish eye than the 390 more of the image is useable .

I dont have to jam my eye in the scope to see .

clarity is good , but the 390 was a little more clear,

(might have to do with snow )

the illuminator works , I can see its on, but does nothing to enhance the image.
(again it might have to do with the lightness of the snow)

(took it in the garage worked fine)

magnification, is minor at best , I compared it to several day scopes(leupold and bushnell) on 3x and Its just not there.2 x power at best not 4x as advertised

was it worth the extra dough?? yes. it had much less fish eye although it seemed not as clear , but that could be due to the snow washing out the pic a little.

This scope is Ok for the money ,it was better than the 390 . its not the best and I certainly wouldnt recomend it unless you pick it up cheap (not like I did 😆 )

It will do what you need but again I was disapointed with the magnification and the clarity was sleightly less than the 390 which was excellent but tiny and a ton of fisheye.

I havent sighted it in so I cant tell you about the tracking yet.

Ill post more when I use it a bit .

I don’t think it is possible to change the scale for magnification at all, no matter what they tried. If they do say it is different, that is plain BS.

Hopefully someone in the tech department is smarter than the phone people, and they will fix it to equal night/day magnification standards. 😆

If I get pulled over for speeding at night I’ll have to try that excuse.

“No sir, during the day that would have been 20 over, but since it is dark all of the scales change and I was really doing 5 under.”

I called them back , still no word on the scope, theyre supposed to call me back ….again.

I cant return it because I bought it from manlovers outpost. which has a credit only policy.

I dont know how they can get away with advertiseing a 5 power scope

that is not a 5 power scope. without putting some kind of disclaimer in the add stateing that it isnt a 5 power scope by dayscope standards.

Im going to ask if thier 5x gen 3 scopes are the same way ,

and by what scale they are useing. and why I wasnt informed .

I have to wait to find out if they did any repairs or upgrades on the scope.

Guess greed got them and they went quantity over quality.

quote Hold over:

I spoke with a rep from ATN today, they still have my scope and he said he is still awaiting elvalutaion papers .

He said that 5 power on a daytime scope is not 5 power on a NV scope.

Can you belive that hunk of bullshit?

what a fucking ripoff.

WTF!!!
When you do 50mph in the day, its not 50mph at night. Riiiiight……. 🙄

What a crock. Time for a refund?

Yes,I wasn’t sure who to blame, the seller, or the manufacturer,or if this is normal.

I sent the above pics with the unit , so there could be no denying that it wasn’t 5x

There’s no way around it , it isn’t what they said it was . who’s fault it is , I have no idea .

But when I find out , Im going to go on a little Internet crusade , and find every review I can .and let people know who did what.

ATN seemed pretty helpful on the phone, didnt give me any problems at all.

so we’ll see how this nightmare ends, I bought the scope in mid November
So Ill ,probably get back sometime in early January .

Image looks good quality wise, but defintly lower mag than it should be.

This being ATN and them being known for their somewhat shady marketing I should throw out this theory that they MAY have started using simpler/cheaper lens. Then wanted to keep the 4x on their box started measuring their magnification using some obscure method (or just pure marketing bullshit)knowing that most people would prefer a 4x scope over a 1.5x because the ATNJ scope’s I’ve had all had what appeared to be 4x mag so there’s defintly something different.

Well I was hopeing for a little more input before I sent it back to ATN.

But I sent it back today and hopefully they will be able to correct the problem.

Im not familiar with thier products but the 410 is advertised as thier best first gen1 model with 5x .

the clarity on the 390 was a little better and the magnification seems to be about 1.5 or 2x only.

I hate to be a pain in someones ass,but I laid out some good dough for a scope and only expected it to be as advertised.
cost me another 36 bucks to ship to CA.

the image is defineately much better than the pic shown

Well Hoot if you have been following my story I first bought the 390 with 4x power, it had none ,I received the 390 with dead batteries installed ,I paid for shipping 2nd day air both ways , sent it back bought the spartan paid for 2nd day air again 3x 30 =90 bucks in shipping .

the thing is I got a “”bargain” on it at man ventures outdoor .

and I think they getting bargains from some unscrupulous suppliers or something .

it would be very easy to change the front lens from the 350 390 and 410 ,as they all have the same body .

But I dont want to make any rash judgements until ATN takes a look at it and fixes it or tell me this is normal .

then Ill bitch 😆

Hold Over, if that scope is anything beyond a 1.5X or 2.0X I’ll personally eat the damn thing!

Otherwise, the clarity is great, minimal fish eye. I’m impressed enough to start saving for one.

If your scope is indeed a refurb, or customer return, due to a defective 5X eye piece, and a highly trained ATN technician replaced it with a spare 1X or 2X eyepiece lens, instead of the OEM 5X, that might explain the results you are getting. Since its listed as new, with a two year guarantee, it wouldn’t hurt to send it to them and ask for a new 5X optical for the eyepiece.

I did read one review where the owner said the image is smaller than the quarry being hunted. That’s a bit strange for 5X.

All the other reviews mentioned nothing about magnification.

Hoot 😯

The NV for some reason doesnt photo well , the clarity is much better than what you see here .and the reticle is very fine , not large and blurry.

I got my camera adapter today and it doesnt fit my camera GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

it said it fits all standard 35 milimeter cameras………but yours :banghead:

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Its a nice camera too its a Fuji s700.

Any whoo, my complaint was the 410 is advertiesd as a 5x scope.

I dont belive it has 5x .

it works pretty good the way it is , the scope is much better than the pics,

but for 600 bucks I expected it to be 4x or 5x . is that magnification acceptable for a low end NV scope?

I was going to send it back to ATN for them to take a look at it what do you think?
.

OK , what we have first is a few pics of my neighbor’s house at 55 yards from a Bushnell’s sports view 3×9
2 pics on 3x and 1 pic on 5x lower down is the ATN 410 on the largest magnification without blurring .All taken from the same spot.

The clarity of the photo is not the clarity of the scope so disregard the clarity issue it doesn’t photo well and the fisheye isn’t that bad either .

but for magnification purposes, its accurate the illuminator was not used this is just on starlight alone

(No neighbor’s were hurt in the production of these photos)

Just because they were wearing Nike’s doesnt mean they were monkey tracks Hoot , could of been anybody 😆 (Im going straight to hell)

well my camera adapter should be here today or tommorrow .

so ill have some pics and maybe some video to post soon

Im going to do a comparison with my leupold and bushnell at different powers in the daylight againt the 410 . they will all be aimed at the same targets from the same distance .

This way we can kind of get an idea of where they’re at .

A few days ago most of the snow was gone and the 410 was a little more clear then it was before .

I do think the snow has some effect on it , because its rarely truely dark here . The snow seems to amplify and reflect light . not like the summer time. The fish eye in the 410 isnt hardly noticeable when your useing it , not bad at all , the 390 was a differnt matter ,

I have to say I honestly do not think my 410 or 390 was brand new
I belive these may have been returned or refurbished models .

I am going to send it back to ATN in January to have a look at it under warrenty and see if this is what it is supposed to be like.

SO I dont want to give a bad impression if this one I have isnt a standard model.

Ill post some pics soon and let you guys judge , and see what you think .

If anyplans on buying one, I suggest paying a little more and be able to return it for a full refund ,

sportsman guide had a decent deal on the 410 and with a money back guarentee .

deal with a good company and pay a few more bucks , it will save you time money and headaches , its worth it trust me.

I’m curious if you have had any free time to see if the 410 is worth the bucks they are asking.

Their website seems like a long shot, but they did have a lower price than the others.

Curious….perhaps after all the Xmas fuss and rush dies down you will get a chance to try it out some more. We don’t have snow here in the land of toothless gums, so washout wouldn’t be a problem. All kinds of stuff roaming around here at night. I found monkey tracks this morning!

Hoot 😯

Even one-eyed people need to quietly kill things at night!

😆 😆

your right ! I tried that, and never could get it work
