Attachment to initially pump w/ tire pump?
Hello. I have an AirForce Air Gun with a manual pump but was wondering if there’s an attachment(s) I can affix to my car tire pump to pump my canister up to an initial 120PSI or so?

Little off-topic, but to answer your question: no, you don’t need to store your gun cocked, the hammer spring alone is not strong enough to push the valve of a pressurized container open.
Further, you shouldn’t store your gun cocked, first for safety reasons and second that would fatigue/kill your hammer spring prematurely.
What’s a blow gun? Can you explain what you did?
It is something that hooks to the compressor to blow air. You could use it to blow dust off of things and they are not much money.
Should I infer from some of these comments that the best way to store the pressurized gun is cocked. Otherwise, the hammer puts pressure and lets the air creep out?

I used my compressor with a blow gun and put around 60 to 80 PSI in mine first. I did it just to save 10 to 15 pumps and it worked.
Not sure about ALL airguns but with the 2 AF guns I had they did not value lock at zero pressure.
But only needed to filled from zero pressure once, after which it usually needs to be just top off from about 2k.
On the BP I have most just needs to be cock to take the hammer pressure off of the valve before filling from zero.
Would be a good idea to cock the AF guns also when fill from zero ……. but not much hammer pressure on the valve to begin with though ?

A Benjamin Pump boosted with 25 psi air from a compressor or air tank takes about 30 strokes from 2000 to 3200 to fill an Mrod.

I once read it’s very difficult (impossible?) to hand pump AF gun up from no air due to a certain valve needing so much pressure to close and hold air. I figured I could overcome that initial valve shut off with 120PSI then finish pumping by hand. Any truth to that?

Don’t think it’s a good idea for what ever reason to have any gun cocked for long term storage, not to safe if u ask me.
For the AF guns there’s almost no presume on the top hat after firing.
Depending on the gun you could remove the hammer spring for long term storage, like the Cricket 25 cal but that’s to preventing spring fatigue from being compress so much even after firing it has a lot of pretension.
