Q:

backpack modding

wanted a way to open carry when in the woods, so i decided to modify my camelbak hydration pack that i bring with me on longer hikes or when just out hunting.

i bought a UTC side holster that pyramid sells for softair guns, it costs 10 bucks plus 9 shipping i choose to get it on ebay and saved a total of 5 bucks

i took the snap locks off if and fitted them to the straps on the backpack, and 30 minutes later everything was in place, i cant decide wether to cut the belt straps off or not…i will leave them there until i get to field test them

the 1911 fits comfy, and stays in place just under the rangefinder, on the otherside theres the mag pouch, under the gps

My 1911
In Alaska
No permits required for full conceled carry.

Just to the right, I have logs piled on the tracks.
Used gun to rob train. (Shuss.. dont tell the Alaska State Troupers).
Oops! I forgot to black out my face.

nice lookin setup cyg, should work nicely out in the field, just keep checking the 911 I have one of those soft holsters that is just a bit oversized for mine, and It came out on a hike once when I had it set up as you do on the pack. luckily the pistol was laying in an open spot close to were I first noticed it.

holy crap dropped the gun…..good thing you found it again…gonna shake test my setup throughly

i would much rather hide my gun under jacket or shirt…but consealed carry not legal in CA, actually cant even be loaded unless hunting, so under a shirt, or in a belt holster that might be covered by a jacket is no go…leg holster would be another option…fine for SWAT, but for walking long distances it gets annoying.

utility belt…lol….i try to keep it light, but i do like the idea of a sidearm with me, even though it might attract some attention from treehugging liberals

not many “real” blacks in denmark….bunches of people from pakistan, iran, iraq, jugoslavia, soo many that huge ghettoes have formed where the police do not dare to go…once upon a time places like that was referred to the american way….now when rest of uuerope see’s gangwars etc…its no longer the american way, but the danish way 😯 🙁 😥 🙄

now i just gotta mod the rapid and SS so i can hang it off the backpack too

I always wore my shoulder holster “under” my jacket or 2nd shirt…,
Maybe I had it all wrong, LOL!!

Cyg,

Are there many Black Danes?

Nice batman utility belt you have there. 😆

to fix the tuner thing, home receivers have a male coax on the back that is for plugging a feed from your cable or sat. company to be used as an antenna, try it you’ll be amazed 😯

No, its definitely a difference in the tuners that are used. Ive always had semi crappy reception from several different home tuners in several different houses. Yet in those same houses a portable radio will lock in stations like there is no tomorrow. AM radio is about useless on my home receivers. I primarily use XM radio when I want something other than MP3 or CD now.

One thing I never understood though. Why is it with car radios or even portable radios you can pick up stations two states away with any piece of wire you pull out of a trash bin but home units you cant pick up jack even if you buy some of those high dollar antennas? It really pisses me off on my home units.

Maybe the insulation on your house/apartment has a foil layer??
I have that problem on my house. I can’t use the wireless modem if placed in my computer room, as the line-of-site to the living room goes through 2 walls of the garage which has a metal foil layer on it!
No bars of reception in the living room…. 4 bars in the hallway!! 😆 😆

LOL, I hear that about the metal tint. I get called out to car dealerships all the time with a customer complaining about poor radio reception. 99% of the time its a newer car with an in glass antenna and the customer had the windows tinted, with metalized tint, DUH! I just ask them now before I even come out if the customer just had the windows tinted, saves me alot of gas.

you guys are so fucking funny lol….10% bwahaaaa..picture was taken before headwound ….that still hurts everytime i get surpriced 😉

not an antenna, merely a lanyard so the gps which is merely attached with a belt clip dont get brushed off without me notecing it….would suck to loose a gps…its a Garmin Vista HCx , the one with helical antenna…supposedly alot more senitive than ones without it, i have never seen it loose connection one it has a lock….well ok i have one place…on a cruiseship inside the metal hull it wont get a fix….not even if its near the window the metal tint they use in the glass effectively blocks the signals

Cyg whats the cable coming out of your gps? Is that a remote antenna? If so does it really need it or does your noggin block out to many of the satellites?

I only ask as all the newer gps units Ive seen lately have incredible gps reception. You can even take most newer units inside a building with no windows and get a strong lock.

I think there was a poll a year or so ago and it was decided that Cyg couldnt post his full puss on this site anymore. It was capped at a 10% facial exposure limit.

I think he has a pellet wound to the head that he doesn’t want anyone to see. Nice set up Cyg!!!

Nice set up m8,

Just incase you didn’t notice, there is a very thick swarm of knats around your head, so bad it blocked your face from the pics 😛

Looks like a very functional configuration.

Peace,
