Q:

barrel bummer…

well, drum emailed me this morning and informed me that he wont do a bsa barrel in .25 for me, after me giving details of my request. i am VERY apprehensive about LW barrels right now, so does anyone know a source who can provide a high quality .25 barrel for my condor, or am i SOL and gotta get a blank and pay to have it machined?(assman83, if youre looking, hows that lilja workin for ya?)

I didn’t know they were having that kind of problem.

I guess I was missing something. 😳

Some people have been having quality problems with LW barrels latley. I have a unmachined .25 and I’m hoping it is as good my current .25.

Am I missing something here, is Tony not selling quality barrels?
Why are you apprehensive about LW barrels when so many members have them?

Click on the big red banner on top of this page, go to barrels, and this is what comes up:

Lothar Walther, Choked .25 Barrels.
Machined to any size you to 24”
Direct drop in, no other mods needed

Barrel+bushings only……$215.00
Barrel with front vented bushing….$245.00

Moneyshot, I just got an email from Drum saying that he can get BSA 25 cal barrels. He has to buy them thru a middle man and the cost is higher.

Gammo has forced BSA to change the way that they make the barrels. According to Drum, the quality is not as good as it was before. The BSA barrel, that I got from Drum and fitted to my R2.5 25 cal really shot great! I am a little leery of getting a new BSA barrel barrel from him. He says that the barrels that he would select would be good but, I still wonder if they would be as good as the old BSA barrels.

I just bought a new old stock BSA Lone Star 25 cal just for the barrel. I want to try it on my R3 25 cal. AOA still has a couple of them, with the “good” barrels for $395 plus shipping. If you wanny play, you gotta pay!

Another option is AOA has FX Smooth Twist barrel blanks. What ever you get, it will need to be fitted.

Jim Gaska is going to fit the Lone Star’s barrel to my Edgun R3. He has done a lot of work for me and he does excellent work!

The only downside of having Jim do some work is that you Condor owners and the Marauder owners are keeping him really busy! It used to take him just a couple of days to turn around something for me, now it takes a couple of weeks!

Jim Gaska did a 16″ polygonal .25 LW for me and it’s an ass kicking tack driver.

If you worry about accuracy, just ask Jim to mill off the choke. I read many reports of improved accuracy from this process.
