Barrel cleaning
This is all new to me, may not be the case for the rest of you, though!
I just learned that removing the barrel of a Mutant Shorty (the Standard is probably the same) is very easy. Loosen the four bolts of the barrel/airtube clamps, loosen the grub screw on top of the receiver, and the barrel can be removed.
Once removed, cleaning the barrel is easy. As it turns out, the o-ring is not in the barrel, but the breech piece to the rear of the actual barrel. As such, the barrel itself can be cleaned with chemical that can potentially harm o-rings, just clean it up really good before installing.
I don’t know how much POI is changed by doing this. I’ll give it a try tonight and see.
Anyway, the barrel of the Mutant is very easy to remove (and reinstall), especially compared to Crosman guns. The only other gun that has a barrel that is very easy to service is the Hatsan.
The inside of the barrel is now sparkling clean!

Greg, thanks for the recommendation. I am guessing the pull cord is flexible enough to feed through the breech of a Mutant. At any rate, I just ordered one kit and will give it a try!
If you’re going to continue to remove the barrel it’s a good idea to engage the safety so that you won’t loose its set location if the action moves.
It’s not needed to remove the barrel every time to clean it ……..
I’d rather kill an O-ring then risk stripping out or wearing out a thread.
POI might change a little down range …… it depends.
I’ve used this pull through with the best results with all my PCP.
The new fied kit contains Super-intensive felt cleaning buttons which I wouldn’t use leave it out, only on a rim fire.
The plan felt buttons are better/safer on an airguns barrle.

You could remove/unscrew the LCD can to clean or just use a drinking straw to prevent the pull through from getting stuck on the baffles.

Just be careful installing it properly. I’m pretty sure if the Four screws are not tightened to the same/similar torque spec you could potentially get POI shift throughout your shot string due to airtube flexing under different pressure. At least that’s how it works with the Cricket. I have a torque wrench so no probs for me.

Smart move ………… and yes it’s flexible enough for the tightest breeches, the Edgun being the smallest/tightest.
Cool thing with the Mutants like no other u don’t need to fully cock the gun to clean the barrel, just swing open the side lever.
Also besides which I forgot to mention that Ballistol Sportsman’s Oil is very safe on O-rings and wood stock surfaces.
When the pull throughs come out clean I use those patches to wipe down all the metal parts on the gun especially the barrel.
