Barrel cleaning JB Bore Paste
I purchased a 257 barrel from R&L for my Condor. When I was purchasing slugs from RJ-porter, he suggested I get some JB Bore Paste and “smooth” the barrel out. I have the paste but not sure how to go about do this or what to look for. I have pm’d rj but I haven’t heard back from him. No biggie, thought maybe someone else here would know what I need to do it correctly. Also, it was mentioned to me to “cut a lead” in the breech end of the barrel and I’m not sure how to do that either.

The way I do it is take either a cleaning patch or bore mop and coat it in paste . Insert it in the bore and run it through it for 40 to 50 strokes.then clean it out with bore cleaner and a bore brush. Run patches through till clean.

Mischief; the first thing that I would do, with a new barrel and ammo, in your case=Slugs, is: load a slug into the barrel [with thumb, same as loading a pellet]…If it was Too hard to load; then, yes, you need to enlarge the “lead in”..push the slug thru the barrel; slowly, feeling for rough spots along the way, then Look at the slug after it is out…
A “Search” may turn up some info. People enlarge the lead-in in many different ways/from using a drill bit [Drastic!] to just polishing with a dremel tool. the rotary tool polishing needs to be done before polishing the bore; and that’s all it is, polishing/smoothing the inside if the barrel.
This is what I do: With a cleaning rod; with polished connecting links, rotating handle and an old/worn out bore brush: I wrap tough paper [tear/cut pieces to have a Tight fit on the brush in the barrel] coat the prepared brush with a rougher polishing compound First/then; after 10-100 pull throughs [pull from the breech end, and be sure to let the coated brush rotate, following the lands of the barrel] change the paper every 5 to 10 pull thrus. Finish with the Finest polishing compound that you have. Pull a few patches thru; then load a slug and check if “good enough.”
The only Danger, is enlarging the bore too big for your slugs. [Usually; pellet wise, That would take a Lot of pulling!]lol
