Q:

Barrel end to first scrubber spacing? Weird question.

So i need to shorten or get a shorter barrel for my talon. I have a 24″ .25 barrel, TT shroud, made for a condor. I’m guessing the frame is longer on a condor because the barrel bottoms in the shroud about 2″ before seating in the frame. Anyway, my question is, if i have my barrel cut, how much? I’m guessing there is a critical distance between the barrel end and the first scrubber? I could be way off base here, looking for direction. Anyone with tony’s setups know the distance in your rigs? Thanks.

Thanks for the input. We’ll see how it turns out. Getting a barrel turned is not as exspensive as you might think i found out btw. 😀

The cheapest and easiest solution would be to exchange either the shroud, barrel, or frame.

Buy a replacement and sell the original as used. You will lose $50.

To answer your original question, I have only .75″ between the end of the barrel and my first baffle. Mine is a TSS w/o frame extender so there is only so much room to get things done.
I haven’t done lots of research and made lots of machined baffles and recorded results with exotic equipment; I looked at a bunch of patent drawings for moderators, looked at what folks did here, and made one machined baffle insert that works pretty good.

I also have had good results at that spacing, 3/4 from muzzle to first baffle. Weather this is optimum or not I cannot say but it works for me.

Try this link. Hope it helps. Let me know if you decide to sell the barrel.

No i’m not going to hack it off, i need a gunsmith to turn the breech end down, same as tony would do im sure. I don’t think they come in special lengths from LW, could be wrong. I want to optimize the shrouds capabilities while i’m at it. Someones put a bunch of research into this i’m sure. I only want to do it once. Starting to feel like i should just order a new one and sell mine when it gets here, but i still don’t know what length to order? Anyone know how much longer if any, a condor frame is compared to a Talon? Thanks.

Just make sure you cut from the breach end… 😕

II sure the hell would not cut my barrel, did you try putting tape around the shroud so you have a snug fit to the frame?
