Battle of the bullpups!
A fun way to pass my afternoon.. 150 pellets down range from 3 different production .22cal bullpups..
I filled each gun and shot 5 10 shot groups consecutively at 45 yards with the same tin of 5.52mm 18.13gr Edgun pellets (un-sorted) right out of the tin.
I have chosen the best of the 5 groups (there were some flyers with two guns) and compared the Bullpups accordingly…
First up the Kalibrgun Cricket STD:
Calibre: .22 (5.5mm)
Barrel: CZ 450 mm long, choked 12 grooved barrel
OAL: 680mm
Velocity: 890fps av Regulated 130bar
Cylinder start pressure: 230bar
EDgun Matador R3 STD:
Calibre: .22 (5.5mm)
Barrel: Lothar Walther 470mm long, choked 12 grooved barrel
OAL: 745mm
Velocity: 915fps av Regulated 130bar
Cylinder start pressure: 230bar
Snow Peak P12:
Calibre: .22 (5.5mm)
Barrel: Snow Peak 460mm long, non-choked 12 grooved barrel
OAL: 720mm
Velocity: 890-935fps NOT Regulated
Cylinder start pressure: 200bar
All rifles shot extremely well off the bench, the Cricket and the Edgun both had a few flyers in the other 4 groups but like I said the pellets were unsorted. I had just lapped the Crickets bore so it was still leading in but groups were about the same as the Matador groups and it would be hard to pick a winner at that range… However.. the P12 absolutely shocked me!
Un- Choked, un-regged (because I couldn’t be bothered taking it out of the .177) and un-tuned, it still has the large transfer port in it set up for the regulator!
Honestly, apart from the last 10 shot group as the air got low, I couldn’t choose a best group out of the first four groups! they were all under a 1/2″!!! :8:

Yea like I said it had just had a serious bore scrub and it needs to lead in again.. Ive shot better groups before the lapping and it will get better with a few more pellets through it.. Ive shot better groups with the Edgun too and its been due a clean since my pellet trials with the Hurricane pellets as they fouled the choke quite badly.. but all excuses aside thats what they shot this afternoon so thats what I compared..
The P12 just didnt miss a beat and to witness a cheap Chinese unregulated Pcp as ‘rough around the edges’ as it is put pellet after pellet the same ragged hole really makes me grin :biggrinn:

Who would of thought of such results, very impressive. I think the price of the P12 just went up! I’m also impressed with your work as well as your reviews. Sounds like your having fun with this gun.

Yes, these are fun and enjoyable exercises……
Veeery impressive group from the Chinese side …. !!! Totally unexpected, – but then you have tinkered with it for a while…… 😉
IF that group is representative for the Chinese total production, – I would be tempted to try their barrels on other guns to compare……….. :ugeekn:
At 45 yds only and from a bench, – I would risk this bold statement: Almost any good PCP would be able to produce similar groups as those from the Cricket and R3 if the shooter does his job. I also noted that these are 10 shot groups, – which in a way helps “camouflage” a potential “spread”. From your images it may seem that there could be a significant spread if these were 5 shot groups. I would love to see the same exercise but 5 shot groups and at a distance of some 55 to 75 yds…… 😉
The Cricket and the R3 groups you show do not really impress me much. They should be able to deliver better than that, – don’t you agree ????
