Q:

Bay Area (SF) airgun ‘Fun Shoot’ coming up….

Gentle friends,

At the range in Concord California, Diablo Gun Club is having their four times a year ‘airgun Fun Shoot’ in ten days (Sunday, the last day of August). This is not to be missed unless absolutely necessary. We have 15 lanes on a ‘multi use’ range, out to 200 yards. Guys will be bringing knock down (Field) targets, spinners of all kinds, cans and (plastic) bottles, water balloons, old stuffed animals, CDs that don’t play, bell targets, the ever-popular ‘shaving cream target’ (shoot through the hole in the shield) plus whatever you might bring. Some of us will no doubt amuse ourselves (yet again) by shooting the larger chips of clay birds that carpet the range. Some guys even shoot at paper targets on cardboard boxes set to whatever range they wish.

The chips of clays make it easy to see where your pellets hit, making this a great time to try your gun out at different ranges.

Eye protection is required, but since there’s no firearms, hearing protection is not. There’s usually several young shooters as well, always a good sign. Good fellowship with good folks.

Tony will be brining out his Caswell ‘arcade target system’, and no doubt some truly fine airguns for folks to try. There were four of us shooting out Talons and Condors at Livermore today, we’ll be there so there will be at least four AF guns and no doubt a big bore or two to try. So, fill your air tanks, lay in some pellets, mark your calendars, call your friends and make plans to join us:

The fun starts at nine (some will be there a little early no doubt) and usually ends mid afternoon. The range we use is ‘up the hill’ past the firearms ranges, before you get to the trap and skeet fields.

I hope to see you there and meet some of the faces to go with the names.

Doug, I was just informed that Tony I. will not be at the fun shoot πŸ™ So you will need to bring some cool guns to shoot πŸ˜€

Pat J.

Gents,

Here’s the official update:

“Just thought i’d remind y’all that this Sunday 8/31, we have an Airgun Fun Day at the MP range. Weather looks to be good and a bit cooler. Just in case you haven’t been to the MPR range, its covered and has about 24 shooting benches. You can shoot standing, sitting, kneelin, prone or off a bench. The range goes from about 10yards to over 200yards.

Bring your fun targets, bells, ringers, spinners what have you and give your guns a work out. We’ll also be having the Quigley shoot and the “Sniper” shoot though this time it’ll be a forced prone position, so i’m told.

Range opens at 09:00. I won’t be at this one but if you need a gun drop me an email so we can arrange something for ya. ”

A fun time for sure, I hope some of the faithful from around here can join us….if not we’ll try to have fun anyway.

Their website shows 4700 Evora Road, Concord, CA. 94520…

Copied straight from the website:

Directions
Diablo Rod & Gun is part of United Sportsmen Inc. Located at 4700 Evora Rd. in Concord Ca. Take HWY 4 to the Willow Pass Road Exit. Proceed North on Willow Pass Road until you reach Evora Rd. Make a right turn on Evora Rd. and go up the hill. The entrance to United Sportsmen Inc. is on your left and is well marked.

thanks for the adress….problem was that my IP for some reason was blocked so i couldnt go to that webpage and get it.

By all means bring a few guns. There’s no alcohol on the range, so don’t bother with beer. The shooting points are covered, and include plenty of benches. The range is flat, fairly wind free, well lit and covered with chips of broken clay birds from the shotgun ranges. Out to 200 yards. Bring some guns you don’t normally shoot, maybe?

If you want to shoot paper targets, bring a box to tape them to. And maybe even a rock in case there’s lots of wind (never seen it, but it could happen). There will be spinners at various ranges and field targets set up. Probably some silhouette shooters as well. Bring stuff you want to shoot (stuffed animals are real popular….), just remember you have to pick the pieces up (no glass of course).

I like to sit at the bench and pick off the bigger chips at various ranges.

Tony will have his motorized ‘arcade target’ there, I want to try that out. There will be lots of neat guns to try, and great guys to show you how. Some serious FT shooters and the like as well, in case you lean that way or are just curious.

I forget the range fee, something like six bucks. Bring eye protection (maybe even ear protection if you want to hang with the big bore shooters…… Minimum age is 8 (with a responsible adult).

Pistol shooting isn’t all that popular, although that little Russian BB machine gun (Druzoid?) was real popular last time.

The address is on the link I gave…..3700 Evora Road…..for those addicted to Technology. Speaking of which, the long term weather forecast calls for warm, 88 degrees. We’ll be in the shade and probably only see low 80s before we break up in the early afternoon. But you might bring something to drink. There’s usually doughnuts if you get there early enough, but no coffee (I bring tea).

Should be a lot of fun, I hope to see some new faces.

Cygnus X, try this link and click on directions. Looks like I’m going to miss a good one πŸ™

Ok, with all this talk unless something really bad happens I am going.

I live just south of Sacramento off I5, should only take me just over an hour to get there.

Since we are guests what should I bring that won’t already be there for others to shoot?

1. Do they need tables, ez-ups (for Shade) or anything else we might have?

2. If I show up besides air and pellets what toys should I bring, that others might like to shoot?

coordinates was somewhere in some asian sea….lol or at least thats how google thought it

so anyone got an address ? that my tomtom will understand ?

dont have much airguns to bring, just my plain old boring TSS, and my B40…..i could try assemble my b51 in .22

got no 600 fpe bigbore to show off anymore….

Theoben still has my rapid…10 days so far…and not answering mails would love to try and get that out and stretch its legs

i have been using gps since beginning of 2000, i am no longer able to find the supermarket without turning the gps on….

hehe i used an ipaq 2200 on with tomtom and a CF gps….mounted with velcro on my aprilia RSV1000 held up just fine…but the velcro acted like anti vibration….and that bike has a few vibrations….

i would suggest a rammount, they got rubber linkages that soak up vibration, so unless your driving a piece of crap, i mean Harley…you should be fine….on a harley….you dont need gps….at least not to find your way home….you just follow the oily track it left behind….and the occasional part that fell off πŸ˜†

look dad that bike is leaking oil….no sonny its just marking its territory…

im driving from milpitas…if someone want s to carpool and save a bit of gas, is beer allowed on range if we are done shooting ? cause then i will get wife to play designated driver πŸ˜‰ and she allways says i never take her places lol

Nope, different Tony…

Do you mean Tony from Talon Tunes?
