Beeman Crow Magnum Question
I am new to the Springer / gas ram rifles. My question is can this rifle be safely de-cocked by holding the stock and barrel, then squeezing the trigger and carefully letting the barrel come back up? I know this is a monster and compressing the piston takes a lot of pressure. Just thought I would ask before I messed up the new toy.

I never heard that Beeman detuned them, but I think some users do, to tame the recoil for better accuracy. Mine is getting the same fps as yours with the same pellet.
Also, lower fps could be due to a ram that is over-pressurized.

I always thought and actually heard that Beeman does detune guns like Kodiak and Crow Magnum, because my .22 Eliminator spits Predators at 850-860 fps. I see NO true benefit of detuning magnum power and high quality guns like these. That is what HW30, 50, Evolution, and TX200 are for.

It sounds like I have the exact same setup. I ordered mine from SS too, complete with pellet sampler, cleaning kit and Leupy 3x9x33 scope. I didn’t shoot too many of the sampler, either. I like to stick with the CrowMag or Predator type pellets for it. They put the smack down on varmits and shoot accurately enough through it.

The gun I have launches the predators at 789 -791. Maybe the gun was degassed for accuracy, or maybe it was left cocked 😕
I also noticed a small nick in the o-ring on the outside edge.
The gun I have was originally sold by Straight Shooters, came with the pellet sampler and the care & cleaning kit, which I got from the previous owner. He never even shot any of the sampler pellets 🙂

I wouldn’t decock it. The manual says not to, not saying it can’t be done.
I’ve got the CMIV and don’t plan on getting rid of it.
Re your trigger problem, this is what the manual says:
Trigger
“The trigger is set in the factory to a fine but safe setting. It is not
recommended to adjust it further. If adjustment is required screw IN
for more engagement – ¼ of a turn at a time, then test, and readjust
if necessary.
— Cocked but not firing
— incorrect adjustment
— factory grease removed
If you want, I can mail you a copy of the manual. It doesn’t have an exploded parts view or anything, though.
I ran some 16.3gr Predators through mine last week and it was averaging 850 fps. Back in the day, I sent mine to Beeman for a tune up and they put some magical mystery gas in the ram. I think it was just nitrogen, though. Also, Ben Taylor told me the nick in the breech o-ring is by design. I kept tearing them up though and air was getting by, via the nick, throwing off accuracy. I ended up replacing it with a 90 durameter urethane o-ring and haven’t had a problem, since.
Also, they used to sell a pump for the ram, don’t know if you can still find them. I would like one, but haven’t felt the urge to monkey with it.

Sacshooter… let go of that thing while cocking and thats some bad mojo. I fear that I would be doing you a disservice if I didnt offer to safeguard you by taking that gun off your hands. It’s for your own good… I’m only looking out for your best interest.

Thanks, I am mindful of the barrel swinging closed, and always try to keep a hand on the barrel when it is open. I always appreciate being cautioned because it may save my from great pain and harm.
I’ve heard of people de-cocking Springer’s this way so I thought I would ask before I tried.
How about another question
The gun is new to me, It is beautiful. Only one tiny flaw on the out side:
The inside may be different story.
Sometimes when the when safety is disengaged and the trigger is pulled the gun fails to go off.
This doesn’t happen every time only about once or twice in 30-40 shots. If you re-cock the gun and try again it seems to solve the problem.
I I’ve tried backing off the trigger adjustment screws and that doesn’t do much to make it better or worse.
When the gun shoots, it shoots great and the groups are good considering I don’t have much practice with spring type guns. I was able to group 5 shots in less than 2 inches at 50 yards on paper.
I don’t know if the stock on this type of airgun can be removed without degassing the ram so I can take a look under the hood. I may be able to figure out what is going on.
I’m probably better off just sending it in to someone to get it looked at considering the value of the rifle.
I have enjoyed shooting it, but honestly if I take the trouble to send it in for repair, after I paid for the repair, I’d probably have them try to sell it and put the money towards a .25 condor.
I know the members of this forum are a different breed than most and someone may have removed the stock from this type of gun at some point to look around.
If anyone has removed the stock on this type of gun could you please chime in with instructions or send a PM.

I had 2 Beeman springers a S1 and I forget the other one but it was entry level(Cheap). What Walkon said is true. My barrel from the entry level rifle slipped outta my hand mid way down and the snap up was enough to teach me to be more careful. nothing happened to me or rifle but sure scared me.LmTSS
been a while since i had my Eliminator (european version) and i do belive you can decock it….if you just wanna put a pellet in there so its ready i used to break it just enough to stuff a pellet in and close it again…safer to walk around with or if you know you might have to wait a very long time…i know they say the gasram does not set over time…but still
what WOK said is so true…if that sucker slips your hand…it will bend the barrel, pull the actiond of of the stock breaking the stock….and if you have a finger in the breech….auch ! but it can render the rifle a piece of scrap
while at it…underlevers…will break the shroudh or barrel too if they get to slap close…and if you got a finger in the loading port…well it will probably be there when you open the rifle again !
some danish guy a couple of years back had the antibeartrap thingy on his rws 52 fail…while loading a pellet in there, the catch failed…and breech slammed close while he had his thumb in there in the process of pushing a pellet into the barrel.snipped off the thumb at the joint…and the hospital could do nothing it had been smashed too much…must freaking suck not having the tip of your thumb….
Yes that will work.
Also always hang on to that barrel while loading, cocking, uncocking AT ALL TIMES.
Do not cock the gun and take your hand off the barrel to load. That is when the gun will slam fire breaking your nice gun and cracking your head clean open.
Watch this video by Paul AKA Crimson Sky and carefully watch how he cocks the springer and holds it while loading. Notice he never lets go of the barrel. That is a good policy to adapted

Why don’t you just shoot a pellet into the ground?
I have no idea if doing what you describe would work, but it sounds like it could be dangerous.
