Q:

Beeman fts .22 copper plated

I would like your opinions on how theses new copper coated pellets will affect our lothar barrels I just received mine and they are very consistent in shape but are very hard I’m sure to some extent they will wear on the barrel but how fast and is it even worth trying I’m also very interested as to how fowling will be affected at higher speeds with these

For example Crosman Premier Heavies like 8450 while JSB Exact Heavies like closer to 880. If you shoot them at higher or lower speeds they will not be as accurate.

WOW Syn: what air gun are you using that will shoot the Crossman Premier Heavies at 8450 fps? I REALLY NEED TO KNOW AS: I WANT ONE!

πŸ˜† It’s called a Fat Finger Deluxe Limited airgun… πŸ˜†

You should see the air cylinder!! πŸ˜‰

PS, Gaylord has always been this way, even worse before the events a couple of years ago… πŸ˜‰ Go and review his comments on the Gen I Condor valve that didn’t work, he said it worked just fine and it delayed AF remaking the valve, effectively fucking over people who bought Condors. He also recommended lubing HP air fittings with a petroluem product, yep, only the REALLY intelligent people do this, I think it’s because they want to sacrifice themselves so our lives get better. πŸ˜€

KM brings up TG’s total idiocy because the rest of us are tired of having to explain it to folks who don’t know.

Fight the good fight KM!!!

HOOT does a better job with his limited capabilities than that asswipe GAYlord.

I thought that the US M1A1 Abrams main battle tank shot a sabot round at around 5,500 fps and I also thought that 5,500 fps was about the max that you could get burning powder. I guess that, maybe, I HAVEN’T gotten so old that I can’t learn something new!

Mike, would you lighten up on BB? He is doing the best that he can with his limited mental capabilities.

While trying to make something out of my Boss project, I can easily tell if my last adjustment was better/worse by the loudness of the shot. The chrony backs me up on my perceived loudness/fps improvement or reduction. I can easily distinguish a 25-50 fps difference in the sound of the shots.

I just need to shoot a whole lot more to be able to listen to an air gun shoot and then be able to state the exact speed it is shooting at. If I can reach that stage, I will no longer need to fuck around with a chrony either!

Guys: Please disregard all of the above! I got off from work, I have had a couple beers and I am just having fun on the TAG.

AGOT, each pellet will have it’s ideal speed in a specific barrel, so testing a bunch of pellets at the same velocity isn’t really a test of their accuracy overall but at that specific velocity. If you fiddle around with the velocity you can alter the group size.

For example Crosman Premier Heavies like 8450 while JSB Exact Heavies like closer to 880. If you shoot them at higher or lower speeds they will not be as accurate.

Lead pellets will smear into the corners of the grooves in the barrel. I found I had some lead build up after a few thousand rounds. Pull a Hopps9 soaked tight fitting patch through the barrel and you will find lead on it. πŸ˜‰

I know when I need to clean my barrel, it no longer hits EXACTLY where I point it. πŸ˜†

Lol just an educated guess my gun makes less noise at the slower velocitys and I can also track the pellets flight with my scope a little better when it’s shooting in that range and there’s is more noticeable drop with extended shots when shooting at those speeds and lastly the good old unscientific 2X4 penetration test showed results that support my hypothesis but yes I agree a crony is needed to know for positive

Only that blowhard BB pelter (Tom Gaylord), can tell what any airguns velocity is just by hearing it! πŸ˜† πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

If your copper washed pellets don’t stick to a maganet then I can’t see them hurting the barrel. Others have tried the copper washed pellets only to find that lead kodiaks, and CP’s fly really straighter.

If you don’t have a chronograph, how do you know what speed your pellets are traveling? I was surprised at what speeds my different airguns were shooting when I got my first chronograph. A chronograph is a necessary tool for a serious airgunner, and you sound serious…perhaps even hooked, (like the rest of us.) It really is a worthwhile investment.

Here is a thread I started. Check it out:

Good Luck!

Im not sure if they are ferris or not and yes I also believe the fts will not group much faster than the 800s I started out right under the sound barrier and continued to work my way down until the groups got better just not fast enough for my taste

Some time ago I bought some Gamo Raptor pellets with “REAL GOLD”(according to the label anyway). Sounded like a good idea though gold is harder than lead.

Before I tried them, I happened to move a magnet back and forth close to the clear tubes. Much to my surprise 😯 the pellets moved back and forth following the magnet ❗

Needless to say, I still have all of them πŸ‘Ώ

I heed the barrel manufactures recommendation to use only lead pellets.

I wonder if your copper coated pellets are also coated first with iron, then a flash of copper ❓

I just checked my notes and I shot the FTS at 712fps. When I did the tests, I didn’t make any adjustments from pellet to pellet. I only filled topped the bottle back up to 2000psi.

Some may argue that in order to truely test each pellet, they should have been shot at the same velocity. However I believe that at the low velocity I was using on all the pellets and the short distance at which I was shooting, I doubt the groups would have changed much if any.

I venture to say that they will tollerate a speed up to 800fps without a change in grouping.

Thank you for the group pics I just finished testing them and I seem to have simular results they seem to not be a pellet of choice allthough I messed with velocity and got them to tighten up a little just way to slow for the fpe I wanted for this pellet I have no crony but I guess they were shooting in the mid 800’s and then began to group ok. Just wondering what velocitys did you shoot your groups at

Hey Michael !

I just finished testing sixteen pellets in my SS. This was the group I got with the Beeman FTS copper pellets. The circle is the size of a dime. Eight shots each target.

Not bad shooters, mine shot the H&N 5.52 superior to the FTS.

I doubt the pellets will wear on the barrel. That barrel is harder than Superman’s knee cap.

The debate will continue on fouling. The vast majority of us have no problem with fouling or leading. Lead shot sub-sonic does not leave residue. My .25 Condor has over 10,000 pellets and I have only cleaned the barrel once; the day that I got it. And it has never lost accuracy.
