Q:

Been lurking this Cricket page for a while

Got activated tonight. I’m a newbie/rookie in the airgun addiction as well as forums. Been watching and studying the comments here for months and finally decided on the .25 Cricket Rifle…..can’t make the Bullpup plunge just yet. Gonna save that for the Colibri.
Gonna see how well this rifle holds up over the next year and maybe get the Colibri in 2015. The .25 Syn-rod was my entry into the PCP world back in November, gotta Shoebox, and a 44 cu ft SCBA tank with Joe B. Fill hose assy. Got three break barrels that are gonna collect dust now. They’re cheapies (Octane, Gamo, Bronco)and will work out fine for the kids when they visit.
Saw a picture of Ted Bier holding the new lever action Evanix Max-MN Bullpup….looks interesting now that they have one without that crappy electronics?
Not sure when and if I’ll get an EdGun or a Bobcat…..heck I don’t even know if I’d like a bullpup? Hope to shoot someone else’s before I make the plunge, but heck I bought the Syn-Rod without ever shooting a PCP before? Did I mention that handpumping sucks?!LOL Retired the handpump very quickly.

Don’t have any real good pics yet, and not sure if you guys use photobucket like over at the yellow or what is best to post pics here? Any help in that category will be appreciated.

My name is Jimmy Fussell, or James Fussell over at the Yellow.
Burgaw NC is where I live and Burgaw is an old indian word for “Mudhole” or “Mud Puddle”
I’m sure I’ll continue to learn a lot from you guys. See ya around!

Since the Blobcat is based on the Royale, it’s hard to imagine it shoots any better, does it? I’ve got a Royale 500 and it won’t outshoot the Cricket using Kings, even at 40 yards.

Burgaw, if you’re looking to expand your collection, the Air Arms S510 Extra FAC is a good buy. Even though the poplar stock is a bit softer than walnut, I picked one up for under $1,000.00. Dunno about the .25, but the .22 will nail a stink bug at 40 yds, very accurate, lightweight, quick to fill with a hand pump. I’ve been using mine for years and it’s one of my favorite AGs. I wouldn’t hesitate getting another. At least 3,000 pellets through it. Fairly quiet, too. For targets and especially bird de-pesting, it’s about the best deal out there. It shot completely through a large rabbit a couple days ago, through both shoulders at 35 yds. I target Tulip Poplar seed pods at 50-60 yds all the time, fun to watch them explode! Biggest thing I nailed with it was a huge groundhog, accurate enough to humanely place shots.

Bog, I appreciate the info man. I do have the S510 on my list and I’m moving it further to the top of the list since you have given it such good feedback. And I like that poplar stock too!
I haven’t been able to get out and shoot much with the cold snap we’re having. The Miss’s just gave me some spoiled fruit to toss out for the critters. I couldn’t resist getting on the back porch and making apple sauce and orange pulp out of them with the Kali at 30 yds. Split the apples in half then split the halves in half and then split the quarters in half if there’s much left to hit.

Took a pic of my two rifles. Of course the S-Rod has taken a back seat to this Cricket Rifle here lately. I can’t imagine me getting a rifle that would make that Cricket take a back seat to it though?

How much was it a .25 Beluga cost regulated at AOA ???

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2. This POS iPhone sucks though …

Ha, only $1849 and another $210 to have it regulated. Say $2059 total

.22 + regulated = $2005
.25 + regulated= $2059
.30 comes regulated = $2095

Cricket looking better every day 😉

I don´t understand how AOA justify´s their pricing. Do the math by yourself : A rec. price for consumer in Sweden – and AOA doesn´t pay that – is 1400$. Subtract the Swedish VAT at 25%, add the shipping cost (but remember they get very good price /unit due the share volume) and you can estimate the advance per Rifle. Like said – you´re getting Raped … :suprisedn:

My Dear Brother Burgaw,,,

it doesn’t matter, at all ,,, i don’t need to PM him,,, since i have his facebook and all,,, but he might understood wrong,, i meant to quote btango’s post,it was funny to find Kurdish slang out there in that website,,,, but he has posted a reply after my post and didn’t understand still, whether he meant me or whom he is talking to?
no worries ..

sorry to destroy the thread ….

To be honest – the BC shoots really well and it has the best trigger of the bunch , hands down. What bugs me , as a Bug owner , is that it rapes the whole concept of a Bullpup being heavy and clumsy looking and it has a pronounced rear stock. If they had named it a Hybrid 400 or Compact 400 and marketed it as such – a Hybrid – then i wouldn´t care but a BP it is not. Neither will it ever be as long as they insist on building it around the Royal block.
Start from the scratch , Fredrik , and make a real Bullpup. You certainly have the know-how and commitment to build Airguns so why this half-hearted attempt to a BP ? Throw away the Blueprints and start over with a clean sheet of Paper.
What bugs me even more is the rip-off pricing they sell FX´s to you Americans. Here in the Promised Land of Tax´s – beaten only by Norway – the Beluga costs 1400 USD and that´s including the Swedish VAT at 25% . Here that BC is actually a bargain of a sort .

Ville, I wish there were somewhere nearby that I could go and shoot a few different air guns, but looks like I’ll just have to go by what I hear from you guys on the forums. Heck, I listened a learned enough on here to try the Cricket Rifle and felt like I was led in the right direction. A good shooting rifle with a good trigger helps ease the pain of the aesthetics a little don’t you think? Yep, the price is really steep at AOA, and then ya got to add $210 for a darn regulator????

Burgaw, just out of curiosity how long does that shoebox take to fill that 44cu/ft tank from empty? & how is the shoebox holding up? Anyways…welcome

Hotrod, I’ve never filled the tank from Empty. Had the tank filled at local paintball store for the first fill before I got the shoebox. It takes me roughly a couple of hours to fill from 3000 back up to 4500. The paintball shop could only fill it to 4000 psi? And I had to leave it with them for 1/2 a day? Go figure?
I’ve only let it get down to 3000 once. And that was from the first paintball store fill. Haven’t been back now that I have the Shoebox!
It’s usually around 3500 when I refill it. I couldn’t tell you how many fills I get on my rifles?. Just that I usually fill the tank once a week. I have a fan blowing on it and I shut it off about every 20 or 30 minutes and let it cool for 5 or 10 minutes, just to keep it running cool? The fastest fill I’ve had so far was from 3900 to 4550 in an hour! I’ve filled it to 4600 just to see if it would do it, but don’t make a habit of it. I have an in line desiccant filter along with a California Air Tools Water and Oil Air Filter between my California shop compressor and the Shoebox, and I use the white lithium grease on the pump shafts as recommended.
I’m highly pleased with it.

i filled 2 of them from empty to 4500 back to back, 6 hrs each, shutting down every 3 hrs to lube.

As far as I know here in the US AOA is the one and only FX importer which would explain the drastic price jump for us Yanks, since a monopoly can basically ask any price and get it . This raises another theoretical ? are Edguns cheaper in Russia or same price as they are here in the states?
Cheers

It´s the ONLY brand in Sweden :biggrinn: There are no other Swedish AG brands.
I always get cranky while looking at the price of … basically everything on that side of the Atlantic but in this particular case , FINALLY, it´s you guys being ripped off. The FX is very reasonably prised over here – kinda Volvo of Airguns or so.

Wow 😯 that’s quite a mark up….. so is FX like the Benjamin brand of Sweden?

That has to be the Fugliest Squirrel EVER. It´s the BobCat of the Squirrels !

Yep, looks like the Tree Rat from Hell!

I dunno about those Bobcats? They don’t look bad to me? I like the cocking lever being further away from my right cheek than the other bullpups, but then again I’ve never owned or even shouldered a bullpup. The Bobcat is supposed to be some type of hybrid in the bullpup arena isn’t it? I know some of you bullpup aficionados don’t even consider it a bullpup. Maybe that’s why it appeals to me? Get a Hybrid and work my way into a bullpup!LOL

I took a chance with the Cricket Rifle as I had never shouldered one of those either. And I really really like that thing now. So glad I made that purchase. Much better than my Marauder and I loved that thing at one time.

I don’t make the big bucks like most of you guys on here, so I’ll bide my time till next year before the next big purchase. I cannot imagine getting anything I would like more than this Cricket Rifle right now? So, I’ll keep my eyes on the Colibri and the reviews when it finally lands! Or heck, I might even go RAW HM1000?

Eddie Golden from Texas bought one right before I got my Cricket and he loves it. Say’s he want’s a Cricket Rifle now though? Man….must be nice to be able to buy $1500 and $2000 dollar guns left and right!
