Q:

Benjamin discovery !need help!

Hi everybody,
After I got my condor, the discovery just kinda sat in the corner and collected dust from a few months. I had only filled it with a hand pump, as I didn’t have a tank to fill it from. Well I just got it out and the hand pump works great at filling the thing up, except for the fact that it’s a hand pump! So I tried to fill it from my airhog tank, but when I release the pressure from the line, the whole gun dumps its load into he line. What do/did I do. The gun holds air perfectly fine, and the hand pump fills it smoothly, but the tank. I can’t figure on what’s up with the tank. Any suggestions or opinions would be extremely helpful.
Thanks

I tried cocking the gun before I filled it, and it doesn’t leak anymore. I don’t know ow coking would effect the check valve, but it does. 😐

Check valve in the fill port got stuck open. Likely due to a higher blast incoming from the tank. You obviously wouldnt have that issue filling slowly from a pump. Remove the fill port and give it a good cleaning. It will either have a delrin (or some other material ) seat or an O ring. Check it out, clean and reassemble. Fill very slowly with the tank.

If you had air coming out the muzzle as you filled, then you would need to cock the gun. This is caused when a gun is empty and the hammer is ever so slightly resting on the valve stem and keeping it open as you fill. In such a case, you simply cock the gun and/or give it a quick burst of air to seat it and then fill normally. AA guns are notorious for this, but I’ve never heard it happen from a Disco.

I’m betting my money it was simply the check valve stuck open from too hard a blast incoming from the tank.

The tank filled the gun just fine. It’s something in the receiver port of the gun that gets stuck open when I release the hose pressure. I found that if you cock the rifle before filling it doesn’t have the issue. I don’t know how cocking the gun would affect the fill port, but it works. Thanks.

I can’t see why the tank, would not fill.

Is the tank low on pressure?

It has about 3200 psi in it right now, why?

Is the tank low on pressure?
