Q:

BEST Break barrel or Pump

I love my .25 Mrod. Shoots amazing.
I don’t like having to hike back to camp to refill.
I’m looking for a pump or a break barrel that will hold Half inch groups at 50yards?
What are your recomendations and why?
Than you.

Since the fps is on the slow side, keep the pellets light and go for wadcutters like meisterkugeln for short range paper, or the domed, lighter JSB. For hunting, it’s worth trying some silver bears. I haven’t shot that particular gun, but have shot a lot of springers, esp. in .22.

While most “claim” pretty tight accuracy, don’t count on 1/2 in. groups at 50 yds. with a springer. It can be done, but takes an awful lot of practice. My goal is usually an inch at 40 yds. (w/ .22). Some of the newer recoil-dampened models may behave better, but it’s tough to learn the exact degree of looseness, especially in the shouldering. For my rws springer, that means pulling it in tight and relaxing a certain amount so the shoulder is loose. Otherwise, the guns shake and bounce.

I’ve never been able to bench-rest a springer with good results. In fact, some of the worst shooters I’ve seen were bench resting and sand-bagging springers. If it can be done, I’d like to hear the full details (and I’m not talking about match guns).

It seems that resting your front hand, loosely, on a surface is OK as long as the muscles are not tightened too much.

Please post your accuracy pics w/ techniques, once you’ve figured out what the guns want. Thanks!

Thank you guy’s. Yes I would love a guppie tank and a 4500 psi CF tank and I happen to have the funds right now too. oh it hurt’s, and maybe an ED Gun too. But I have this beautiful Wife and sweet little girl and they want to travel a bit and I do too. So in the End, I’m going to cut cost on air guning, and 4×4’s and quad’s and RC trucks and plane’s.
Maybe we can travel to russia and pick up an Edgun, Good compromise,Right? lol
Thank you again,

I also have a 25 M-rod, a P-rod, several springers including a Diana 54 with anti-recoil mechanism, and have used several multi-pumpers.

I have never had much luck shooting springers that accurately – even bench rested. The 25 Mrod is a special gun that is exceptionally accurate for a stock gun.

One decent multi-pumper is the Benjamin 392.

It is light, powerful, pretty accurate, and pretty cheap at about $150. I’ve only used it with open sights, but I’ve shot shotgun shells at 50 yards with it. It is relatively loud compared to the M-rod.

You can get it super-charged at Mac1. If you don’t mind the money, you might just want to get one pre-super-charged directly from him. It looks like it costs about $100 more to get his steriod version for $255.

Have you looked into getting a Guppy air tank from Joe Brancato? You could easily carry it in a small back pack while you hunt with your 25 M-rod. http://www.airtanksforsale.com/guppy/
