Best DIY mods for Condor?

I just got my new .22 Condor, well, this isn’t totally true, actually PA screwed up AGAIN and sent a .177 but I am SUPPOSED to now have the correct .22 cal “in the mail” and as much as I would love to send it and have it fully tuned and injected with steroids by the pros, I really cannot afford too. So, I was wondering what everyone considers to be the best mods a new Condor owner can do themselves including ordering items from the wonderful machinists here on the forum. I am going to vent my bushing but not knowing anything about the mechanics of the Condor or how it works I am afraid to do too many changes myself. But, if I can order a few parts/mods from guys here on the forum and change the parts myself, I am fairly comfortable doing this. I was just hoping to get some guidance here from a few of the experts as to what is the best/most important items to replace/mod first to get the best performance (ie – vented bushing, hammer, o-rings, etc) and who to order these parts from. If you do not want to post names directly as to who you think has the best items please feel free to pm me with this info. I would just like to get the most out of this Condor with the money I have left to spend on it. At this point I have or will soon have the rifle, scope and scuba tank and now need to know which direct to go.

The two screws are on the side of the tophat. There are two small holes on the side of the tophat. Those are what prevent the tophat from unscrewing or getting loose.
and its on the top of the tank?
Adjusting the tophat is easy. Just unscrew the two tiny set screws on it. Then turn the tophat counterclockwise to rais the tophat or clockwise to lower it. The higher the tophat is the more air is going to be used up. The lower the tophat, of course, less air is used up.

LoneWolf; Listen to everyone but especially to Rob. Now I’ll add my two cents:
– No crony? Not to worry. Got a 2×4? Shoot it from a given distance. As the pressure decreases note the penetration. Does the gun blow through the beam on the first couple shots? Good pressure. Does the gun not penetrate the beam until a few more shots are fired? Still a good gun but the pressure in the tank was too high to start.
– Shoot the gun into a 2×4 until you notice a great decrease in penetration. Stop.
– Did you count your shots from a full tank? No? Not a problem. Count the number of holes in all the 2x4s you just shot.
– Figure out what pressures your guns shoots best at by extrapolation of the penetrations of the 2x4s.
– Save your money for a crony (I don’t have one) and desired mods. Then again, I’m happy with the three AF pop guns I have with no mods done by me other than butt plates and WOK cosmetics. The AF guns are extremely effective right out of the box (if all works as advertised).
– Want a cannon? Buy a cannon. I suggest the Weatherby line of rifles if you want to go that route. AKULA
Your “new to you” Condor shouldn’t need anything more than ,feeding every few hours. All infants (new guns) need regular feeding and constant cleaning (+ss wiping) After your familiar with the basics, move on to internal cleaning, I haven’t heard of any self activating suppository,that does this automaticly,so you’ll have to learn the take apart sequence posted on this site. Take it one step at a time ,and don’t rush to change what is already ,a bad +ss rifle. lol
I wouldn’t change the top hat until you get a chrony first. AFAIK that’s the only way to tell if your going in the right direction.

I have been in touch with Van @ AirHog about getting me a setup for my welding/O2 tank so I will also ask him what he can do on this setup as well. I haven’t even thought about asking him because I have been trying to find out if I can put an adapter on the Condor valve to connect it to an air hose with a regulator on one end and a fitting for my scuba tank on the other and he might be the one who could tell me this also.

You may have to go the route of getting a regulated tank that has your qr fitting and then building the wood around it, you get an adaptor from air hog and a regulator and then see how you can build off of that.
Hey dmorley12027…thanks but if you will notice in my original post I mentioned that finances will not allow me to send it and have it modified the way I would LOVE to so I am going to have to try to do as much as I can with the finances I have available right now for this project.
Hey maw…thanks for your reply as well. I really like the butt rest that Walkonking makes and I may go this route but I am trying to figure out a way I can adapt a quick connect fitting and regulator to a hose and connect it to the valve so I can actually build a wooden rifle stock and run the rifle directly from the scuba tank or even a tank similar to the Condor tank where I can either put it under the shooting bench if it is the scuba tank or lay on the table if it a small tank similar to the on that comes with the Condor. I want to do this so I can eliminate using the air tank as the butt stock all together and build a more traditional style stock for the rifle if this all makes sense. I have asked a few folks about doing this but so far I haven’t heard back from them and have not found anyone who can tell me if this is possible and what type of fittings I need to make one of these hoses/charging systems. I also know what you mean about UNLIMITED prices you can put in one of these things. If I am not careful I am going to have more in my Condor setup than I am going to have in my custom built 1000 yard benchrest rifle. And to think this all started with the idea of getting my son a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas…now I am ADDICTED!

Walkonking, makes a great butt rest for these guns, and right now in the prossess of making adapters so you can put an ar15 gun grip on. you’ll probably want to get a shroud also, the cheapest guy so far is get the blue jay, but shrpshotr28, anthony266,an air hog.com, can and do make some good sh– also, in the way of shrouds and other items. If you browse the forum you find how to tear your gun down and clean it and polish it and even modification. Have fun and remember the gun has almost unlimited pricetag.
The best mod for a Condor is a Talon SS in CO2 unless you live someplace warm. Otherwise, and in alphabetical order, Don G, GTBJ, or Tony A.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t have a chrony yet but it looks like maybe I need to put this on my VERY LOOOOOOOOOOOONG wishlist too!!!
As far as adjusting the tophat and trigger mod do you know if there is a thread explaining how to do these adjustments here on the forum. I will do a search to see what I can find as well but if you know of one in particular which is a good reference I would appreciate a link if you have one.

The best thing you can do upon getting your new gun is to simply shoot it.
You’ll never know how effective any mods are if you dont have a good baseline of how your gun performs to start with.
Fill it to 3000psi and do a full chrony string on it to see where the sweet spot is…. Make minor adjustments to the tophat… dial it in as much as you can.
The only real mod I’d suggest out of the box would be the trigger mod… beyond that, just shoot it, gather lots of data, and have fun.
