best first mod?
12/8/14 my new Condor SS .22 will be here from PA. I got BKL mounts for my Hawke Sidewinder scope. I like to tweak and modify, so I’m asking what would be the best first mod to do. Thanks guys,

I have a stock hammer ( with hammer weight ) in my Talon-Dor and a brass breech. The next mod that I will be doing is the heavier hammer with “slap” mod that Tony also sells. I think the additional weight of my breech helped out a little in the power dept but can’t offer any opinion on a brass hammer at this time.

The first thing I would do is get rid of the factory top had. It’s a weak link in my opinion. Contact Tony at Talon Tunes ( click on link at top of this forums home page) and order his one piece top hat. It comes with inserts so you can adjust power. The factory unit is a 2 piece held together with grub screws. They are prone to loosening.when they do come loose, both power and consistency are effected.
You should also familiarize yourself with how to disassemble and reassemble your gun. Air Force guns are very easy to work on of you are at all handy with basic hand tools.
Pick up a small tub of “divers” silicone for keeping your breech “o” rings lubed.
Try NOT filling your gun to a full 3000 psi. Most members you will talk to will tell you that the “sweet spot” is around 27-2800.
When cocking, always return the breech to the same side when locking it into the fire position. Not really sure why but it DOES make a difference.

I converted mine into a 257 using Tonys one piece top hat and his hammer and stronger spring, a new barrel and all I can think of is what can I do next to it. Im sure you will end up the same a never ending fun project. First mod would be the tophat and hammer, you can then use that 3000 psi and get more shots. Enjoy the condor you have just got one of the most versital air guns out there.
