Q:

Best group ever at 260 yards with the 257 Haley

Fired from a cleaned barrel with one shot thru it, NOE 81 grain bullet of 20-1 lubed with Trax 10 wt Silicone oil and unsized.

PSI was 3500 tethered, light wind.

.50 MOA, yeah 1.34 inches at 260 yards. I started a group off the plate in the same place yesterday and fired 3 shots in 3/4 inch, but not knowing how tight it was, I had corrected and fired a .90 group on the plate.

I could probably shoot a lifetime and not beat this, or I will tomorrow.

As Jack Haley fights the good fight, I have to say thank you Jack for one of the most accurate and beautiful air rifles made.

Get well my dear friend.

Oh. 😯

RC,

I doubt the vapor trails were from lube blowing off the bullet. I expect you just happened to be shooting when the conditions were right for “vapes,” that’s a term we use in aviation when trails will form off Hornet wingtips even during low G flight and they blow off rotor tips etc.

Did it look like this? http://www.airgunrendezvous.com/rendezvous/read.php?10,14484

I think you need to practice ….. a darting humming bird might just elude that group ! 😆

Steve,

Its no big deal actually. I am a true follower of the weather reports when i shoot. I always check and i only go out mainly when its 10 mph and under. MOSTLY UNDER 😆 The majority of the time, winds are LIGHTEST starting in the early am all the way through the late am. So my target shooting/sight in is done 1st thing upon arriving at my local when the winds are the calmest. Then, i hunt from late am through mid to late pm.

I mean……..come on……if i can hit soda cans at 230 and 446 yards, i got the place with range and slight winds for it 😀

Angles Shooting Range is a no no….too many people asking to many questions constantly and very little shooting. Especially when i bring an airgun. That place is slowly becoming the hang out spot for every man in LA who just wants to get away from the wife and kids and who wants to talk with others (entirely too much)…… 😆 I’m more about shooting. 😎

Interesting enough this weekend when the sun was behind me, I could see the vapor of the silicone oil blow off the bullets and leave a trail….

VAPOR TRAILS!!! Not your grandaddy’s BB gun anymore 😎

Wind is a big problem here.

Were on a 15 degree hillside, at the base of the coast range, in clearing in a Doug Fir forest.

Wind just seems to swirl, many times I feel a wind on my face, but it is blowing the opposite direction halfway down the range.

Interesting enough this weekend when the sun was behind me, I could see the vapor of the silicone oil blow off the bullets and leave a trail, and that trail blown off course by the wind.

What fun.

RC

Where are you going to find 260 yards with minimum wind Tofaz? Certainly not on that Star Trek planet where you shoot. 😉 You might have to go to Angeles.

And the greatness keeps going.

Can’t wait to get out with my 257 and the 2nd batch of NOE bullets.

A .70 MOA today.

RC

Looks to me like he built one hell of a gun. Sure hope he pulls through.

Mike

Damn dude!

I don’t know RC.

You could go sub 1″… 😯 😯 😯 😯
