Q:

Best Hunting Pellet for 25 cal Condor SS

can anybody recommend an effective and accurate 25 cal pellet for woodchuck hunting.
Most distances will be between 40 to 60 yards out.
Any advice is appreciated before I spend money experimenting.
The Condor 22 cal loves the H and N Barracudas but they pass right through starlings and I wonder which pellet will
be able to penetrate the skull of the woodchucks then fragment doing maximal damage and resulting in a “humane” kill.
Thanks in advance

I also shoot the JSB’s. No issues so far… other than Pyramyd is out of stock regularly!

My .25 Condor SS loves the JSB Kings. It does not shoot the Kodiaks as well as I would have liked but the JSB’s always get the job done. I have shot a lot of groundhogs with a .22 and .177 and any pellet I used would drop them in their tracks if shot in the side of the head. I avoid body shots on groundhogs when possible because they are usually close to their hole and it only takes them a second or two to vanish even tho the hit was probably fatal.

Interesting to see that 0.177 can drop them… Could you please advice what kind 0.177 pellet..?
Thank you…

My Condor SS 25 cal, this is after about 800 shots fired from new.
I fine tuned my top hat to .088″ and used a o ring (1/4” ID x3/8”ODx1/16″ T) behind it and fill to 2800psi and set the power wheel on 3/0. For a total of 40 shots, from 897- 921fps that is and extreme spread of 24fps.

The latest fine tuning of, the TH is the same used the PW only.
My adjustments to the Mode Average 918 fps:

Looked and compared the accuracy of my Condor and crony work with the JSB Kings. The Kings shot though my gun seem to have the most accuracy at 902-918fps a spread of 18 fps to adjust the gun to this Mode Average of 918 fps . If I sacrifice 10 shots count to 30 and adjusted the power wheel down from 3/0 to 2/14 and fill to 2700psi to this sweet spot 902-918fps the gun is extremely accurate.

Wooow,a beautiful air gun, yuuuup, i see the top hat its so short than any other, and the shoot count at 50 ? Try to do that , bench rest how many shoots are deadly at that distance, mine condor.25 SS are 23 shot 1″ at 50 mts (55 yards) whit JSB Kings

Woow, awesome, what did you do to perfome those 700fps, did you have TTTopHat????

Talon SS 22 cal tophat set to .077″ with a 1/4” ID x 3/8”OD x 1/16W behind it, PW at 3/0 JSB 16 gr and Polymags shooting out at 700 fps. I needed to keep this Talon SS as quiet and as light as possibly. I’ve recently heard that 22 Polymags do well at 825-890-900fps ranges. I haven’t tried it yet though. I tried the 22 cal MetalMags and are not as accurate as the PolyMags, just slightly.

Seeing with a MTC Mamba Lite 4-16X44 SCB glass etched reticle.

try the metal mags when they come out…they might be out now…my condor ss 22 loves the metal mags and they do some damage a lot of carnage

My Condor SS seems to like Polymags a little more so than Kings.

It’s killing accurate @ 880-900 fps and Kings @ 915-920.

As much as I would like the Polymags I never could get it to perform well in 22 cal until I dial my Talon down to a ridiculously slow speed of 700 fps, witch has a diminishing return.

and Welcome to TAGs !

JSB Kings are the leader and shoot the best in most guns. I’ve tried a ton of different pellets, at different speeds, but JSB wins in all my guns.

I’ve killed groundhogs aplenty with head, neck/spine or body shots-right behind the shoulder. The latter is used when I don’t care if they bury themselves in their holes. If they need to drop and not create a stink, head shot or neck/spine shot.

Try 28 grn.H & N Barracuda. Condor .25 cal. to 45 yds. Squirrel sized game.

I have a .25 Condor and it shoots the Jsb’s great and so did my Mrod. They both liked the Polymags also.
