Q:

Best pellet for the taipan standard?

So far I’ve been shooting mine at 30 yds and it stacks pellets. I’ve been using the jsb 18,15, and 14 grn pellets mostly but I have also used the crosman boxed premiers. On Sunday I took it to the range to shoot at 100. The results were not awe inspiring. The jsb 14.35’s did the best. I got home and cleaned the barrel which turned out to be filthy. So today we went back to the range again. I’m not very experienced shooting my airguns at 100 so I brought a control with me. The webley fx2000. It shoots the 14 grn jsb s at 930 fps just like the taipan and I have the same scope on both. To say this gun is accurate is an understatement. Set out the targets and first shot the fx. 4 one inch groups in a row and the last being right under 3/4. So I switched to the taipan. Not so good. I shot all the jsb pellets and the crosmans. My best group was about 3 inches :sadn: . Am I expecting too much from my airguns? Am I spoiled? Or am I not shooting the right pellet? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t me as I could pull the trigger, and not see the reticle move. I watched the pellets hit. I do know my regulator is set at 148 bar as marked on the reg itself. Shooting over the crony reveals its not that consistent yet. Extreme spread of about 35 fps. I guess that could have some negative effects at 100. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Like I said. It stacks em at 30.

Mine came shooting the 14.3 grn jsb’ s at 1053 fps. No joke. I turned the adjuster out two full turns plus some to shoot around the 930 range where some of my other rifles like to shoot. I think my problem my be that one shot reads 928 then the next two will jump to 950. Then back down. I guess a regulator clean out is in order. I’ve cleaned the air tube out but there is still oil seeping out of the regulator hole as I shoot.

Do you know what your reg is set at? I guess I mean, is it consistent from shot to shot set at that speed. Mine came shooting around that but it was much louder. Thanks for the advice

More than likely your hammer is adjust to far in and you blowing extra air.

Back the hammer off like 2 or 3 turns…

Shoot it over a chrony and start adjusting it till it peaks out.

Then back it off a touch… should get you pretty good.

Some of the ones that I brought in were running loud and hot..

Just had to readjust a little.

All good

Mine is set at 140. Came from the factory that way I haven’t touched it. The gun is really consistent. I currently have the gun shooting 870 with the 18.1. I have found that speed to be a good balance between noise and trajectory

If 100 plus yards you seek then turn the gun up to 890-915 with the 18.1 JSB. You will be wicked good with that set up

Here’s one whole magazine at 50 yards

Here’s 6 groups at 120 yards with the Taipan standard with the 18.1 at 910 FPS
