Q:

Best Talon Tune Mods?

For my Condor SS, what are the best Talon Tunes (or possibly other) mods if I am not seeking more power. I want accuracy, efficiency, durability, and perhaps, quieter. I don’t get any sound to speak of from the muzzle so the only thing I would need to quiet is the hammer strike. Also if you have a mod suggestion, what is main purpose of the mod? There are a lot of mods on the TT page that I think provide more power, but I wonder if they might provide other benefits even if I am not looking for more power.

ok thanks ill try them out and chrony when weather in ct stables out a bit. thank you

I believe I used an Ace Hardware ORING #6

PETE32,

I use a 010 on mine. It’s snug slip on if you carefully remove the valve stem first.

Powderburner uses a loose fit that I think can stretch over the too hat to hang behind the top hat.
If you have a chronograph you could check out its effect.
I found it costs me 15 FPS velocity that isn’t a problem for me

If need be you could turn up the power wheel a little or adjust the top hat out 1/4 turn.

Oh, the o-ring is usually a black slightly stretchy one.

hi, what size o ring should I put behind my condor ss?

95 gram hammer with a oring cut into the face that hits the breech.

I believe it is 95 grams, which is heavier. His hammer included his hammer slap mod.Basically a cushion of some sort.

I am planning on getting a regulator soon, Altros I believe, if I get the regulator is there any reason to get the tophat with inserts? Robert, the hammer you got is it heavier then stock? I am surprised changing the hammer quieted it, I would have guessed the opposite. I have had to pull the barrel also, and the o-ring on the barrel bushing does make removal of the barrel fairly difficult. Thanks for the replies everybody.

i have the .22 Condor SS, I have a talon tune hammer with hammer slap mod and the one piece quick change top hat. I have not done a lot of testing since putting them in but here are some general observations. When I got the gun I noticed that the action was louder than the muzzle report. Putting an o-ring behind the Tophat quieted it a little. Replacing the hammer and weight quieted it a lot more. Replacing the hammer only seemed to increase the velocity maybe 15 fps. PW 2 and 3000 PSI shooting JSB 18.1g, I was shooting 1050 fps with o-ring behind top hat. When I put in the quick change top hat with large insert and an oring behind top hat my fps dropped to 675fps. Removing the o-ring brough my fps up to around 915. With no insert I am back up to around 1050. I will play around with PW settings and Fill pressure just to see the results. I think I am getting a little better accuracy with the large insert in, but I am not a great shot. I think the hammer with hammer slap mod is worth the price, just to quiet the hammer down. I wound up shearing off the plastic PW screw when replacing the hammer so if you are not experienced disassembling airforce rifles be careful. The oring around the bushing in the SS makes the barrel more difficult to remove.

for accuracy, a right psi regulator is a must. more accurate and more shots.

Hammer Slap Mod will help reduce the noise plus give some more power hitting the top hat and allowing you to better use the top part of the bottle above 2800 psi. In conjunction with a One Piece Top Hat with inserts it gives you complete control of air so you get more consistent shots and more shots. It allows me to shoot very light pellets in .22 caliber you can’t do that with the regular Top Hat.

The Wok-Butt is really nice compared to the flat AF Butt Plate it is night and day a must!

Oakey
