Betty’s voice.
Last night I cleaned Betty. I polished the top hat, breech of barrel and then ran my Crown Saver through the barrel a bunch of times.
Now when I shoot her (power wheel on 3) she is much louder. She sounds more like a .22 caliber powder burner.
I at first thought that the shroud cap fell off or something, but it’s there.
So what do you think?

I was out again today with Betty and figured out what happened.
So far i have been in the wide open to shoot. Thursday was different, I was in front of a concrete structure. So what I was hearing was the echo of the hammer slapping against the breech, a 1/4 (+-) second later.

I suppose you could run a few more dry patches through it? but it does seem to sound like diesling.
Would there be residue in the barrel from the ignited silicone?
Sounds like it is igniting the silicone oil. Some of the silicone oils have a low flash point and will ignite when exposed to high pressure air. This will cause an increase in velocity and if shot in the dark the flames coming out the barrel are wicked.

There is now way he could get a Kodiak supersonic from an SS just after cleaning and polishing.
Oh btw the pellets are Kodiak .22
Maybe the cleanup got you supersonic. got a chrony available? maybe before cleaning and polishing you were borderline speed of sound, and picked up 50 fps or so and now hearing “sonic crack” (around 1080 fps depending on elevation and humidity).
Looks like a chrono is in order to see if those pellets are breaking the sound barrier. I guess they could be going faster from a clean slick barrel, but my experiences have always been the opposite. 🙂
Also, what chemicals did you use to clean the barrel? May be dieseling.
Full tank(200 Bar). I used some silicone oil to clean barrel, then ran a bunch(10-15) of dry patches trough to get out most of the oil out.
Just checked barrel. cleaner then a whistle.
Check to make sure that the pressure in your tank is not getting low. When it does the valve duration increases and velocity usually will too.
