I think even roundballs are helped by rifling? Am I right?

Yes, in fact, a round-ball that does not spin will behave much like a knuckleball throw in baseball. No way to know where the hell it will go!!!… 😆

That is why the old muskets were so inaccurate. And not only because the ball is not spinning, but the slop in the barrel didn’t help any either.

tranquilizer dart guns are not rifled, I know this isn’ t one.

maybe the groowes are just filled with lube….i remember bucher45’s barrel at the hog hunt….it looked just like a smoodbore due to shooting slugs that had been lubed

my 909s is rifled…they are shallow compaired to a powder burner but they are there…Greg

my 201 almost looks like a smoothbore but it has micro rifleing in it if u hold it just right in the light u can see the twist in it

The grooves inside the barrel that spin the projectile.

You’ll never Know Unless you look for yourself, but I think anyone can see the difference between rifled or not.

Very few barrels aren’t rifled anymore. Only reason I can think of to not rifle a barrel is for sabot rounds.
