Big bore Condor SS and Valves.
Eldy or anyone here, is the condor SS valve a high flow or direct flow style? Thinking about Eldy’s 457 18″ barrel and kit. TIA

To do the swap you will need the barrel/bushings, a breech block to fit the barrel and an adapter to fit on the top hat of the valve stem to fit/seal between it and the larger hole in the breech.
It is my understanding that Eldy makes a kit with everything in it you will need to change calibers. I have also heard that Tony at Talon Tunes has just released a .30 kit that includes a new valve stem to fit.
Very likely in a couple of more years AirForce will follow suit.
As far as that .458 having the power to kill a deer, I beg of you not to try it. The reason I ask that is I have to question whether the high flow valve will propel that size slug at sufficient power level to humanely kill a deer. Most people who are hunting large game with air rifles are using air rifles that are designed for such. Many of the air rifles are producing 500+ FPE, which for scale reference is approximately what a .45 ACP produces. The AirForce high flow valve as it is would be incapable of doing such.
You can get custom valves, etc. to build an AirForce air rifle into a serious powerhouse, but likely you will do such because you like to tinker and you will most likely leave it at it is when you finish and build up something else for another purpose.
But if you just have to have a big bore AirForce air rifle, fear not. They are going to be introducing a .50 air rifle in the future. But I do not recommend that you hold your breath. John McCaslin (Mr. AirForce himself) told me of it in the fall of 2012. At the same time he told me of the upcoming Condor SS and the new trigger assemblies. They introduced the Condor SS and the new triggers at the 2013 Shot Show. I expected the big bore to be introduced at the 2014 Shot Show, but apparently they had not worked everything out on it and had to throw a bunch of parts they had laying around together for that show and called it the Escape. We’ll have to wait for the 2015 Shot Show to see if they have finally figured out how to build a big bore.
By the way, to build a Condor SS into something that you can hunt deer with is going to cost you as much as another Condor SS.
Still trying to learn the terms of parts and what can be altered for a certain kind of performance. SO if I want to shoot the slugs out of my 25 and switch to the 458 for the deer season : What mods are compatible or easily changed for both uses? Maybe two guns would be better but that won’t happen due to finances. Might want to go to pellets in either configuration. TT’s tophat might be the first thing? What is next? Pros and cons of each mod?
Um, both? The valve is in-line with the bore. It’s also High-flow, when compared to a Talon’s standard flow, and then there’s the Micro-meter tank, which is set up for low velocity…

I also agree w/ OnTheEdge… You could… Get a .25 condor SS, and set it up for slugs (the Mamba’s or Jerry’s- same thing). You could get a high flow valve from Doug, and combine it w/a 4500 psi tank, but I don’t think Dman has made another order yet. Of course, you’d still need a barrel, bushings and a breech- but you could get those from Eldy. BUT the new valve, 4500 psi tank, barrel kit will cost you. More than the cost of building a 2nd condor SS. The Korean guns worked over by BGMF Airguns (.com) will safely take a deer down.
