Q:

big problem with FFP scopes

I have three PCP guns two Crickets set up just alike every thing Vortex scopes slings adjustable butt plates , Mutant with a Hawke scope.
If I bought a high end FFP scope would that not make my others obsolete, May be I just need one gun so I can keep up with all the new stuff,
Or come out of retirement and go back to work, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard the new 25 was coming out, I got some different size picit rails for it, Harris and a the new style Atlas on order,
We are going to have to wait and see on the scope, A lot of good ones out there for under 600 bucks , Hint,

I believe ones choice for a scope needs to fit the application there shooting in.

I myself do like the FFP scopes and do pesting/hunting routinely, rarely target/paper punching except a check on accuracy every now and then.

Even a adjustable magnification can be still in need for some apps, I do. ……… so a fix power would be my second choice and my first would be a FFP but it’s a heavy shit ……. but still choose it over a SFP …… still in use but tired in doing the math.

Even the max power of a scope also.
For ones caliber and it’s trajectory the shooting max range will come into play within the scopes maximum MOA adjustments.
For small calibers and or a target shooter a more powerful scope my be needed, but for a larger one u probably only will need a 10x.

A 22 cal a 16x max would be my reference point.

All-in-All Mike u need to get/try them all ……. we all did … . . . .

+1. I have three fixed power scopes

I won’t own SFP scopes. I only hunt, I need to use the reticle to range find and I also want to memorize my holdover. Kahles is my preferred FFP scope. For me the only other real option is a fixed power scope.

quote SECoda:

the can’t touch the AO during the match

That’s HFT, and common in the UK. But in Sweden we pretty much only have FT and there averyone uses high power SFP scopes like 10-50

I use both but mainly SFP because I rangefind with the AO. I rarely see FFP used by the FT guys shooting competitively here is US. I think in Europe they do because the can’t touch the AO during the match. I like both for the advantages if I need it. One doesn’t always replace the other.

That’s good to hear Cricket,
As I like my tea with cream and sugar, Not the real stuff all fake,
GKU sent me a link to a bunch of links on Optics and how to level scopes, I have been shifting through all the information and it has made my shooting more comfortable, Its a few post down on Level scope if you want to take a look,
Mike

FFP scopes isn’t everyones cup of tea Mike. I thought it would be “the answer” but it remains the scope I sold faster than any other, the buyer was super pleased with his 2 month old scope in brand new condition though, so he liked it lol.
