Q:

Bill’s Frame Extender on Talon 18 in barrel

If you have this configuration, what is your opinion of it. On low power was it worth the money?

And dont go over 3kpsi! In testing the 3 shrouds i have i blew my bills frame extendor off my gun with 3400 psi. Not to say it does not work it is just not designed to handle that much pressure.

I have one of these, imo good piece!

What type of baffles is Randy using in his shroud? I found “K” style to be the best. Tried the basic AirForce old style ones, but the db reduction was minimal. A friend and I have been experimenting with baffle design for four years now and concluded that K’s are the best for Air Rifles and .22lr Subsonic.

I have one and for what it is it works. I think it was $50 easy to mount. Drill out your front barrel bushing and helps it out a little more. Make some baffles and it gets better. Its a great base to start with. Triple the price and you get tripple the results. Basic math there. I have both and the r&l shroud in on my gun cause i wanted more and didt feel like makeing all the baffles.

Well,I guess I will be finding out for myself. I think Randy is sending one out to me tomorrow to fit the 27 5/8″ (700MM) barrel in .257.

I fully fire lapped the barrel, and followed that with a good hand polishing of the bore with flitz.

So far, I would say that the results are very impressive indeed! Shot three groups hovering around .25″ center to center. What was very impressive, is that I shot three shots at three different targets. All shot in the same location, the same size. Which would translate to a 9 shot group of under .25″ at 80 yards. This was with the 80 gr. NOE flat point mold that I decked to 60 grains. It is giving me 930 fps at 3000 psi, and 950 at 3200 psi with a stock condor valve.

No doubt it will be in the 1080 range with a Dyotat valve. I will be testing a new offering from another vendor next week. Not as powerful as the Dyotat Valve, but with it’s own merits. It will be shipped with three different valve stems, each configured differently.
Fingers Crossed!!! 😉

Yesterday, I installed the R&L shroud on my Talon. It went pretty smooth. I had a little problem aligning the four screws on the bushings. It went together, but was tight. Might explain why in the reviews people used a shorter screw. It looks good, will get to shoot it Monday, to check it out.

I was impressed with the way everything fit together.

😉

Knife maker, I talked to Randy and ordered a shroud from him.b. Watching the video on his site pretty much made up my mind as to his product. I sure could not afford the machinery to make one.
Thanks for the lead.

Thanks for the info, I will definitely consider this item.

The frame extender is nothing more than a hollow tube with no internals. No, not worth it for me.

The LDC sold by Randy at R&L Airgun supply is similar, but has internals, and more importantly has both an alignment bracket on the barrel as well as replacing the first barrel bushing, and screws onto the bushing. It should keep everything Very stable and straight!

Now for the Good Part, It CHEAP for all this!!!

He’s going to be out of pocket for a few days beginning tomorrow, so give him a call next week.

They also give a present, or past military discount. 😉

Tell e’m I said Howdy from Texas!
