Bipod ?
I have a Condor on the way, should be here Friday according to tracking. I almost ordered the AF bipod but instead ordered the sling stud kit hoping I will be able to use my Harris. Does the Harris mount solidly on the stud mounted on the lower dovetail or should I of just ordered the AF bipod?

Fore firearms I prefer the bipod to be mounted as far forwards as possible. This lets the gun “sit” on the bipod rather than the bipod being a pivot point for the whole thing. Keeps it more stable and therefore makes the gun better to shoot.
However, mounting towards the front on an aiforce gun isn’t such a good idea. The frame isn’t the strongest out there, and it could cause some POI changes from the prone to offhand positions.
I believe that best place for bi-pod placement is as close to fore-arm of gun, regardless of what make/model the rifle is..

You may want to try mounting it back a bit if your accuracy appears to change. These rifles in stock form don’t like the bipod too far towards the muzzle…
this is on my Talon…i made the forearm from hardwood and added a sling mount stud…fits very solidly.
You can also mount a sling stud in the center of this…
Thanks pablouk. This works good. I used a stud designed for AR15’s and I believe a Sunny Hill adapter. Starlings and pigeons are hating this thing.

All you need it “DOVETAIL TO WEAVER RAIL MOUNT ADAPTER”, you can get 1 cheap from ebay.

The killer is that the stud is mounted with a rinky dink C clip that is not up to the task of holding the stud in place with constant pressure.
That C clip stud retaining system regulates the whole stud system to junk,IMO
I’m thinking the best way is either the Airforce Bipod which i am hesitant to order due to reading it is not that good.
A second option i am going to try is to drill and tap the bottom rail for a stud with machine threads and install it with high strength thread locker.
I am going to see what Brownell’s has to offer.
Don’t but the AF bipod, its shockingly bad, especially for the price 😯
There are adapters out there that will work, I have a 11mm rail to weaver, then a weaver to stud adapter for my Harris(bought off a member here so don’t know where it was sourced) It holds it all rock solid. Failing that, drill and tap a 11mm adapter rail yourself.
Did I mention NOT to buy the AF bipod?? 😆
The Air Force stud set showed up yesterday. The slide on, grooved stud doesn’t work very well with the Harris bi pod for a couple reasons. One is it is too small so tightening the Harris just pulls everything through the hole in the Harris that the attaching dogs come up through and things never get that tight.

u may have to change the set screw holding sling swivel to the rail. if it has a big thumb screw head it will interfere with the bipod mounting correctly. otherwise it will work fine.

That is good to hear. Less money spent as I have quite a few Harris’s of various models and better quality. Win/win. 🙂

matter of fact the swivel protrudes into the shroud a 1/16 th to help it from launching, in other words, more better holding power than the grub screw alone
