Bipod on a Vulcan
My Vulcan is officially on it’s way, be here next Wednesday. I have a question for those of you that have installed a bipod. I bet it is lazer accurate with with the bipod but is the bipod in the way when shooting offhand? Just curious.

You stated that you don’t use the additional functions of your Atlas bipod. So I was just saying that it might have been a waste of money for you and that you can just send it to me so I can use it. 😀

At first I have type of Atlas bipod (greenbase) not original. I have my bench rest table is not leveled. When I do level on my harris bipod i tighten lock screw and bipod still hold set level. But when I set desire level with the atlas and tighten bottom lock screw atlas automatically align level again. For my shooting needs is harris more than useful. I do not use additional functions of atlas bipod.
I have Harris bipod and I like it. Zonk and eelect got me sold on the Atlas later and I found it to be the better bipod. Easier to adjust, more degrees of freedom, and most importantly a very solid military grade piece. Keep in mind though this is not a comparison between two equally priced items. The Atlas is 3 times more expensive and hence the value per dollar (which is subjective to your financial situation) may go in favor of the harris.

No need for a “sling stud” for a bipod. Just order a short picatinny rail off Ebay, drill two small pilot holes, and use wood screws to hold it on. Don’t bother with anything but a short 2″ or so picatinny rail. it’s difficult to mount multiple accessories under a forearm, and it just looks neater! Here’s one for ten bucks on ebay.com: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magpul-M-LOK-Polymer-Rail-Section-3-Slot-MAG589-Picatinny-M-Lok-Handguard-/161569519819?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item259e4b38cb It’s what I use and it works just fine…plenty solid for a bipod! You have a choice with the Mag-Pul rail, you can use two small wood screws, or drill some holes in the inside of the forearm and seat the two metal “plugs” that the picatinny rails screw into, to hold it in place. The only difference is drilling four holes instead of two. I’d suggest mounting it with two stainless flathead wood screws, as that’s all I’ve ever used, and never a failure.
OR…if you really want a sling stud, for a sling, you simply drill a pilot hole smaller than the threads on the stud, and screw it right in.
If you choose an Atlas or Atlas type bipod, they usually come with mounting hardware. Again, just involves drilling a hole or two.

How difficult is it to mount the sling stud? Do you have to carve out quite a bit of wood on the underside?

I’ve had both. I like the way an Atlas will extend and how the legs will swing both ways, forward or back. Also it has side swivel and rotation.
Can you tell us why, explain your likes and dislikes? It helps those deciding which bipod to buy.
I have both atlas and harris but harris is better 😛
Atlas all to way. To me it’s the only way to go…
I’ thinking about a sling stud mount such as a Harris. I like the idea that it is easily removed and a sling attached.
Any suggestions ❓
