The black hole warning we are getting here on Talon air is related to anti virus programs Norton and AVG seem to be the ones catching this, but from what I understand it is a bogus warning!

Take great care if you get hit with any of the Black hole payloads, they typically attack software already installed on your machine like Java, Adobe, Flash, just to name a few. And yes I work in computer security, so I see this garbage pretty much on a daily basis. The specific “kits” (Block hole tool kit) is actually sold on the darker web sites to other hackers, which in turn use them to attack web sites that may have even the smallest of security issues. Forums, and Bulletin Board type site are favorites of the attackers, since most of the software running the sites is open source, and they can audit the code looking for holes.

OK, then the real bad news, if you pick up an infection related to the Black Hole Toolkit, the only real way to get rid of it is to wipe your hard drive, and re-load. By wipe, I mean using something like DBAN (free) and wipe the entire drive at least one full pass. Most times you can save your favorites, or bookmarks, pictures, and documents, but do not save your profile on a windows machine, or any system related files, as the kits generally also drop a root kit which takes over the whole operating system. If anyone has specific questions on their machine, drop me a PM, and I’ll help out as much as I can.
