Q:

Blue loctite

Been meaning to get some of this stuff for awhile and finally remembered on the way out of town today. I guess there is a run on this stuff. Walmart was out of it and across the street, all an autozone had was a small tube of Permatex threadlocker blue gel. (Is that the same stuff ?)

Anyways, got it home and took the grub screws out one at a time on the tophats of my guns and put a dab in and retightened them. How long does this stuff have to sit in order to lock them down? I squirted some on the side of a cup about an hour ago to see how long it takes to set up and it is still wet and gooey.

What Tach said.

Make sure the thread are also degreased for best results.

Get some of your girl clear nail polish. That work well also. For the bolt that is. 😛

Threadlocker ( loctite ) will not set up in the presence of air, it needs oxygen free atmosphere to lock up. Inside the threaded connection it will setup and lock the fasteners together.

Later

That blue permatex is the stuff I have. It does the job. I let it sit overnight without messing with it.
