bolt probe survey for the 22xx platform…
…Flow through bolt probe or standard bolt probe???
Recently I purchased a flow through bolt probe (just make sure you put it in the right way or the flow hole will be upside down 😳 ) Anyway, after several pellets with the flow through model and an extended probe model…I can’t really see too much difference. Almost negligible. I was going to conduct more tests, but when I was having “cocking” issues with my 2550, I snapped off the handle inside the probe and I need to get the right sized tap to rethread it.
Anyway, please offer your opinions….”To Flow, or not to Flow, that…is the question”???

Like all you guys, I have interest in ANY thing that will pump up performance, but after I saw that probe posted, I did a little researching. and looking and thinking..I could not for the life of me see how it could make any noticeable difference..I think some times guys can “think” the latest/greatest gadget is SUPER GOOD, when in reality it’s not….I know I’ve fooled my self at times , I think mainly because I wanted it to work..but me wanting it didn’t necessarily make it so 🙄 🙄 🙄
I also picked up a flow through expecting great and wondrous things but nothing really exciting happened. No great FPS increase, no great shot count increase, nothing. Best thing I can report is that I did not lose anything which is definitely a positive experience.
I think my next step is to try the extended tip probe that pushes the pellet just a little further into the chamber.

It does not matter as long as it does not take up to much volume and decrease flow.
I have used both and if they are both done correctly there is no difference.

Just by looking at the design you think it would increase flow as there is nothing standing in the way from tp to barrel opening…With a regular probe or extended probe there is obviously a “probe” of brass or whatever material directly in the center of the air flow so if you had to guess which one will flow better………….doesn’t it make more sense the one with nothing obstructing the path????
That said, I found no real improvements in my testing.
