Q:

Boring out transfer port?

In the photo, you can see the differences in transfer sizes from the barrel (4.20mm), beach housing (5.0mm) and valve (about 4.5mm and seems oblonged). In the FreeManShooting video on YouTube, he says that he adds a part to a pen to equalize hole sizes. Would it be better to drill out the holes with a gunsmith? I’m looking for consistency. I get about 5fps spread over 30 shots, SD 1, at 888 FPS, JSB 18.1, but I want tighter group and more consistent velocity. Thanks

Yes Greg has right but this is never ending story with finding suitable speed vs. accuracy!! Because if JSB factory does change something in their technology we are on begin again. They making changes very often what I know… Good step is buy very good pellets for a wagon :biggrinn: and shoot 5 years or buy less pellets and shoot them and be like their beta testers 😛 :4: Every batch is different what was valid last year it doesn’t need valid for now.

U need to find what pellet and velocity your gun/barrel likes, they all differ somewhat ……..
Crony in place when shooting/testing pellet stability would be cooler/less frustrating for yah.

YES, if it’s done properly it can be helpful if u don’t like to clean often.
BUT, if done wrong it could be u need to fine a new replacement barrel.

It’ll only help with the less cleaning, it won’t improve the accuracy though ……..

Okay. I won’t risk it. I’ve also been thinking about your 50 years group with a fps that’s not as good as mine is…. It made me realize that I’m doing this tuning thing backwards. I should ensure my pellets are stable at 888 before committing all this time to decreasing my spread…. Well, back to the drawing board.

I never polish any of my PB’s barrel ……… …. .. in time after some 100k pellets though them all has help lessen the cleaning interval.

Wife left? When my 1st wife left I was a walking nut case, I could watch the news and not tell you a word they said in 2 minutes .
The 2nd wife was a little better, Now when the 3ed one left I was cool with that one , I kept the house nine motorcycles , I did give her one.
I got to keep the house and an old truck.
It gets easier believe me.

LOL. This one took 100k. Despite her cheating, destroying my house, her bf urinating on my carpet, signing a prenup, signing a separation agreement.

Best way to get tight groups is to shoot your gun as much and often as possible, I was terrible, then I shot an hour a day every day and was awesome, 0.33″ – 0.45″ groups at 58y. But then I didn’t shoot at all for a couple months and accuracy went down the toilet. Practice makes perfect. (a polished barrel usually helps too)

Since the wife left, I’ve had some time to pursue tuning in my entire spare time. I’ve watched videos, read, written emails, and I still can’t find to get groups like that. Is there a more efficient way to learn this stuff?

GEEEE SUS!!! I need this! I follow your posts ask the time, GKU. I’ve learned a lot from you so far, and I’m always trying to get to at least close to your level.

Crony result don’t always prove a thing though ………. when it comes to accuracy.

Each are 14 shot groups, the 4 groups are with different pellet lots all shot at 50 yards benched off of 3 bags, early morning no wind.

That’s inconsistent? I wish I got that kind of inconsistency with my guns. How much difference in pellet drop is there (say at 50 yards) with 883 versus 900 fps?

I’d check into the reg rebuild properly done and other issues before messing with the tp’s in blaming it for being the cause for inconsistency.

Somethings to check are hammer and spring binding, valve spring retainer loose or improperly set, all around a bad tune job ….. etc.

More info on tp sizes for yah here though.
