Bottle wont hold air
Hi all
This is my first post so please be gentle!!
I have has my talon (stealth as im in the uk) for about two years, all was fine until till the tank dumped it air.
Since it did this the damn thing will not hold air at all. I fill it from a divers bottle and then undo the valve on the divers bottle (which normally gives a short psst) and all the air I have out into the bottle comes rushing out.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated

Someone just posted a leak problem the other day and took the valve out cause they heard something rattling around inside
A funny thing happened the other day when I screwed my tank into the fill adaptor, air came out ❗
My top hat got loose and backed out to the point that when I screwed on the fill adaptor it was compressing the top hat enough to let it pass air.
just another thing you can check, because you would not notice it when you screwed it into the tank unless the tank had air in it.

I got mine as a demo gun at dealer and sent mine in after fudging with it.. Either debris on inner collar or scrathed. The first issue can be fixed by filling it to 1000 psi and pushing top hat on a soft material like cardboard over a 2×4 piece of soft pine and discharging lodged debris blasting it a few times., This is what AF USA told me over the phone. I would try it and if it does not hold air or hisses sent it to AF they are normally quick on turnaround under warranty.

Sorry, never seen anything like that (not that I’m an expert. In fact, I don’t know much about valves. Mine was leaking once, but it was different).
I’d try to fill it just a little bit to try to find the exact point of the leak.
I said it because I thougth my valve was leaking through the top hat (like you think is happening to yours), but I was wrong… it was leaking through the brass insert O-Ring.
If you’re SURE it’s leaking through the top hat, there are still some things you may try…
What get the blue jay said may work (it will seat the top hat).
Tony (from TalonTunes) once told me to do this:
With the tank COMPLETELY EMPTY (don’t trust it leaked all the air!!! Use the coin inside the adapter to check if it’s really empty), remove the top hat assembly. Just pull it out (carefully) with a screwdriver, it should came out (attached to the rod). Polish the rod a little, with a very thin sandpaper (I also polished mine with a Dremel and polish compound).
Reinsert the top hat assembly and test. You may try to do the tapping thing with the plastic hammer.
He also said to, with the tank EMPTY, attach the top hat to a variable speed driller machine and spin the top hat a few times. Don’t remember exactly at what speed, but I guess it’s on low speed. It’s better to ask him what to do…
Well… maybe returning the tank will be easier if you’re not confortable doing this stuff.
Don’t play with the tank, 3000 PSI is no joke! Remember, it killed a shark in Jaws!
I’ve seen several valves with machining “burrs” left inside the valve. If one of these has come loose and lodged on the valve seat, this would cause your problem.
Also a possible stupid mistake I have made myself……..I had put a coin in the fill adapter to release the air from the bottle, but forgot to remove it before refilling……..the coin/object in the adapter would not allow the valve to close, resulting in a dump 😳 😳 Might check that there is no obstruction in the fill adapter itself 🙄

I am squezzing bout 180bar into the bottle, but as soon as the divers bottle valve is released the 180bar that was in the bottle comes through the pressure release valve on thedivers bottle and it comes out as quickly as i open the valve
I have checked the divers bottle on my s400 and all is well with that so it must be a stealth problem.
Because of this im guessing the tophat retainer is not sealing against the inside of valve properly…or the problem is with my retaining spring.
Surely though with 180bar inside the bottle that would be enough pressure to hold the valve shut?

If the gun is new send it back to the gun shop or send it to Airforce UK and they will put it right for you, i am sure it will not cost much more than what it costs here in US, which is peanuts.
with the tank empty compress the valve a bunch of times, and refill. if its still leaking slowly shoot a few rounds, if it is still doing it tap lightly (did I mention lightly?) on the top of the valve with a rubber mallet. you may just have a pice of something in there.
Were you able to locate the exact point of air leakage? Valve? Brass insert? Collar?
Does it loose air slowly? Or almost exploding? Do you hear the air escaping?
People round here are very nice, I’m sure someone will find what’s wrong with your air tank.

That was me. If you take the stem off can you hear a rattle in the tank? If so, your going to need to take the valve off. A spanner wrench is proper but there are other ways to do it (we used a tight fitting allen wrench) BUT it will leave evidence of you haveing had the valve off. If the problem is the same as my friends you will find that the brass spring retainer has backed off too far. I didn’t know where it was supposed to be threaded up to, so tightened it all the way to just barely snug. LMK if this helped.
