Breech knobs going to opposite sides of the world
Loving the new lathe, still need to finish the shelves and cabinet but having too much fun making stuff.
Two more breech knobs tonight to fulfill orders.
On the left is the o-ring version, polished finish for FWBGBS in Washington state, USA; on the right is a hybrid version of two of my others made by special request for JETBOY1 in PORTUGAL.
Below: Jetboy commented he liked the cylindrical grooved version on the right but would like the knurled finish as on the left. Center is the “hybrid” version combining both features.

You can also buy scrap from most local metal supply outfits. If you have one close to you.
Titanium is a bitch to machine, and even worse to clean up 😛
I have 2 customers at my auto shop that have machine shops…….both have told me that I am welcome to their end cuts for my small machining needs. Both do work with brass, SS, Ti, bronze, and a few others. Both recycle so I offered to pay the same amount that they get at the scrap place, but I think I will wind up with the stuff being given to me; (I take really good care of their cars). 😉 😀 😀
Have to get in touch with them this week.
The stuff I got cost me $6.76 a pound, and i bought 10 pounds 😆

I though about making some breach knobs but I did not think people would buy them, showed me wrong! 😳
Knurling tool which mounts to the qc tool post came with my machine, tricky to get a feel for using with good results though.

That is what I have been doing. It is still pretty expensive though, but you might save a couple bucks a pound.
