Marc use a Helicoil. But i have no end tap to fix a Helicol in a blind hole and don’t want to waste a tap how is not from me.
Lucky there are more good ways to fix it.
You don’t want to end with loose/ lost parts in the middle of a nice hunting trip, what i have ( only 🙁 )once a year.
Eddie, the brass insert is a great fix. The way I sink it in the delrin is to pre drill the breech hole just under the od of the insert ,put teeth on the edge of the brass with a milgrain file, screw in a 10/32 screw then heat the screw and insert (hold with locking tweezers) and float into the delrin. The 10/32 screw will show any potential misalignment as the delrin cools and hardens around the brass. Once its in, it is there to stay 😀
ewoody- I had the same problem with delrin threads if you take the cocking knob on and off this is what will happen, I did a mod I seen a while back I made a brass insert and drilled it out to 10/32 to accept the cocking knob made the brass insert a size on size press fit and locktited it in place now it is very easy to take on and off for cleaning when needed, just seems to be a more positve thread, worked great for me no problems been that way for over a year now!
Ew, nice bolt handle. I’ve seen a couple others with 2 screws into the bolt but never bothered as mine seems to work ok. Taps do come in slightly smaller or larger fits called H value; and dies come with a slit cut on one end so that the circumference is not stable; with a small adjusting screw inset into the frame boss that bridges the slit cut so you can adust, within a small range, the tightness of the die and therefore your finish diameter of the threaded part.

oops 😳 it is 10-32…….good catch Walt….I just had to replace the grip screw which is why I was thinking 10-24 ….
SS, you should check this. Pretty sure its 10-32, not 10-24

The %*&#@ thing was going loose every time.
maybe becauce I’m a lefty.
but fix it with a new knob with two M3 screws, need some time to make but happy after that.

Stay away from Helicoils they work on some applications but don’t use them for this fix. Tagdagger that is a good idea sounds like a great fix also. And Stower 1 posted one for the brass that is a great fix also. I have had mine off and on a few times mostly for cleaning, nice to just thread it and not have to force it in the delrin, Delrin is a great product but eventually it will give up and strip out the threads!
