Q:

Breech/probe O-ring question

So I pulled a bonehead move at lunchtime today at the range. 😳 At the buzzer we need to open our actions so I pulled the cocking lever back and left it there, went out to change targets and back to bench. Apparently I only had the cocking lever partially closed when I shot because it came back and whacked me in the cheek. There was an o-ring that had blown back and was sitting in the magazine. At home I re-inserted it in the space just behind the transfer ports.

So my question is – are there two o-rings to seal the probe? I ask because the Mutant O-ring thread lists it as X2:

4.47 x 1.78, -008. (.177) / 5.28 x 1.78. -009. (.22) probe seal X2

i think the dual tranferport is to enable large size without the pellet actually falling into it. :2cents:

A very clear one with part names cross referenced to the item numbers please. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask right? :biggrinn: :biggrinn:

The exploded diagram floating around is from an early version of the mutant… before they switched to there newer style patented indexing mechanism…

Most everything is the same except the breach and mag…

I haven’t torn down a vet yet so I don’t know if it’s the same as the late mutant. I’ll see if I can get a schematic of the veteran.

There is only one ….have to have donny fix that. I don’t remember why I put x2 on it ( donny copied and pasted it from my posting)

Which model is that an exploded view of? Parts 69, 50, 53, 51, 99, 52, 90 look like a spring loaded magazine assembly. Part 83 (x2) look like barrel hold down screws.

Neither of those are on my Veteran. Did early Mutants have a spring loaded mag?

I believe they are the same. Can’t get my little borescope camera in the enough for a good enough angle. Plus it doesn’t want to focus anything closer than 2 inches.

Bizill,

The dual transfer port can be appreciated in your pic. First time I see it. Seems to me that the two holes are different in size and maybe in shape?

I have the .22 cal. Makes sense there’s only one. Just didn’t know why they were listed as “x2”.

Yeah, in the multiple places the probe seals are listed forum members list them as X 2 on .177 and .22. That diagram schematic does show one as far as I can see. Like I said, on my .25 there is only one. What caliber do you have?

Are you looking at the exploded diagram posted here by GKU? I have a hard time seeing any detail in that. What part number on the diagram is it?

Only one according to the exploded Mutant diagram.

Thanks. Minor hurt but major WTF factor til I realized what happened. I think I may have left a stain where I was sitting.

Just looked, only one. Well, at least on the .25 Veteran…

What looks like a second inner o-ring is just the rear crown of the barrel. Crappy pic:

Oh, and did it hurt when you got bitch-smacked by the Taipan? Or was it a weak pimp-hand?
