Q:

Brightest tactical light less than $50?

I’m looking for a flashlight that can be mounted in 1 inch rings. Ability to add pressure switch would be nice.

Which brand and model offers the brightest and most even light output. Battery time doesn’t matter so much.

Optics/Nightvision

I really like the Streamlight scorpion, and it’s only $40.

Thats kinda what i was thinking. If memory serves i believe the 3watt leds put out around 60 lumens or so. Whats the cost on those batteries for the lights we’re speaking about? I’ve read somewhere some of those tactical lamps can have some expensive batteries to replace. I admit i’m not up on the tactical light thing at all. I know i’ve seen some hefty price tags which is probably why, $300+. The units you guys are talking about are priced reasonable. Need something to go with my BSA laser, which for the money is a nice little laser. Plug in momentary switch, nice size dot at distance, holds zero and is easy to adjust. The info is appreciated.

Bodi, the stock bulb on a G2 and the 6P is the P60 and is 65 Lumens with a 1 hour run time, there is also a P61 bulb/reflector which is 120 lumens for 20 minutes.

Surefire also have a P60L which is an LED version replacement which is 80 Lumens and supposed to last 12 hours, but they dont specify if what brightness level its at after 12 hours.

And there are also non surefire Cree LED bulbs available (eBay for $20)which are supposed to be 150 lumen, but thats only with a 3 cell body. 2 Cell is likely around 80, if that. But certainly brighter and longer running than a P60.

I have a 6P and 1″ rings fit it perfectly. The G2 is just a plastic bodied version of the 6P with some minor surface differences. if it doesnt fit a 1″ ring, its not by much and could be sanded down to fit.

You shoudnt be burning out an LED, if it does it again, get a refund. Supposed to last 10,000 to 100,000 Hours depending on type.

Lama, any idea how many lumens that light puts out? I’m trying to compare it to my 3watt 2AA maglite, which is very brite for such a small flashlite, still it costs $30 and replacement bulbs are $20. Burned through one before the first set of batteries wore out. 😕

What size is the body? 1″ rings do the trick or do you need special mounts? Thanx

Thanks llama…. I’m also curious as to wether the SureFire lights are indeed any brighter than the UltraFire/SuperFire look-a-likes on eBay.

I have a surefire g2. It’s a plastic light, but still the same as the 6p and such. It’s not a bad price. You can probably get it for about 30 bucks on ebay. You can also find pressure switches to fit them. Very bright little lights. They fit in 1″ mounts.
