got it out!!! tried the needle trick and it worked. i used a pair of sewing machine needles for heavy material. thanks for the input, i never would’ve thought of that little trick on my own. saved e having to wait til monday to pay a visit to the local machine shop.

Can try the “two pin” idea (broken tap removal tools exist but I’ve never actually seen one in person.)

Check around with machine shops…see if anyone has a wire edm unit. Might work.

I’ve drilled out several broken taps, after annealing them. Not sure how well or even IF this would work in aluminum. Might destroy the piece…but if your options are “remove” or “re-do”…?

Easyest way . knock out the bit and drill and tap a bigger hole only recomed if u cand drill a bigger hole. But there are otherer ways just depends on what its on and suff. Post a pic that will help a lot.

They do make tap removers, but they may be only for larger taps

you’re not gonna be able to drill it out unless you have a carbide drill or even better a carbide endmill that is 1/8″ so you dont bugger up your hole… A normal drill wonrt work since the tap is just as hard as the drill..

You will need 2 straight pins or sewing needles, I’d use the needles if the tap is tight. Stick them down on each side of the tap and turn out with pliers.

Sounds simple don’t it? It will work but it can be a little tricky.
