BSA barrel ammo…
does anybody own a .25 cal bsa barrel on an AF rifle? if so, im sure it may, or may not, have slight differences in pellet preference.
i just recieved my long awaited care package from his holiness(drum), and am going to place a pellet order very soon here, and would like to make an educated purchase.
i wish i had a camera, these things look even BETTER than i had seen and expected. 😯 😯 😀 😀

Moneyshot, I got a BSA 25 cal from Drum about 1 1/2 years ago. I wanted another one and he told me that he was out and he wouldn’t be getting anymore in. He said that he had just sent a shipment, 500 barrels, back because the bores quality no longer met his standards. He told me that BSA’s mandrels were getting worn and the bore size was now closer to .250’ than the .243” what it had been. According to Drum, Gamo won’t let BSA spend the money for new mandrels. He said that they didn’t shoot as well as the older barrels.
A couple of months later I get an email from him stating that he had BSA barrels back in stock. I asked him if BSA got some new mandrels and if the bore was .243” again. He said that they were still .250” but, they shoot fine.
I am confused, he says that the smaller bore is better, the bigger bore is better?
Please keep us posted on how the BSA barrel does. I might have to order a couple more.
for the sake of a limited budget,i ordered skenco ultra mags(curiosity, they did well in 177), jsb exact, and h+n field target special. why anyone would use .25 for field target is beyond me, but it was among the lightest pellets that i could find. anybody try the fts in .25?

I would pick pellets you know shoot well in many barrels.
Its likely your new BSA barrel will shoot JSBs or Benjis very well. It may even like Kodiaks. If you are blessed, it will love EJs, but I seriously doubt it.
Those 4 choices are what I would test. I almost guarantee one of them will be your goto pellet.
I recently discovered my chopped/recrowned barrel has fallen in love with Kodiaks which is alright with me. What else was I going to do with 10,000 of them? LOL

My Lonestar shot Silver Bears really well.
My (19″) BSA .25 barrel likes Kings best. Also shoots the Kods just fine.

Must depend on the pellet OG.
Just because one bore is 22 and the other is 25 doesn’t mean the 22 will be more accurate… 😆 Or the reverse…
I would seriously question anything that particular person says since he obviously didn’t know what was going on then or is simply trying to sell junk barrels now, or just assumed that since the bore increased it wouldn’t shoot as well without doing any subsequent testing. 😕 Shipping 500 barrels is not cheap and if BSA picked up the bill it’s no wonder they can’t afford new mandrels… 😯
