Q:

BSA Lightning XL – Cool little gun

I like springers just haven’t run across too many that I actually enjoy shooting. I loved my HW97 but it was big and heavy and I never took it into the woods, yet I would take my talon and an air tank ?!?!?

Tried a few others, probably stuck with the Crosman NPSS (Nitro) the longest but never did learn how to shoot it well. Sold it cheap, hope the new owner is happy, it does shoot hard and consistent!

Decided to try a scaled down springer and went with a .177. Goal wasn’t a long range hunter or target gun, 20-30y offhand 30+/- off the bench and I’ll be happy.

Well I found one, I’m very happy with it. It’s short and light, easy to carry / shoulder, cocks easily despite the short barrel and it’s reasonably consistent. A 20 shot string with JSB Exacts yielded Low= 799, High= 813, ES= 14 SD= 3, Avg= 806.

Still getting used to the shot cycle so no bragging on groups yet,

The XL is a very nice gun.
I`ve had one of the English made ones for about three years.
Been very pleased with it. Mine is .177.

Tuner- Dave Slade
Most find the XL quiet and smooth from the factory.
Mine never had any twang and it sounds like a hand stapler when fired.
Not bad at all.

Does anybody know if they are tuning kits for the XL?

thanks
