BSA Lonestar
Anyone have one of these? For $400 for the gun, seems like a bargain but I can find very little on the web about them leading me to believe they either weren’t popular or had enough issues to drive people away from them.
Any thoughts?

I have a LoneStar in .25. It is powerful and accurate. I popped 7 ground squirrels with it…I ran out of ground squirrels. 😉
Characteristics that would “drive people away”:
It’s LOUD!!! You will need to take it to a real range unless you live in the boonies or can figure out a shroud for it.
It’s a single shot
I only get 7-10 shots on a 3200psi fill
It has a screwy “Micro Movement Cocking” mechanism. The actuator for the cocking mechanism is at the end of the forearm. The loading of the pellet is via a different probe/bolt mechanism. It takes some getting used to.
Other people who have shot my LoneStar have disliked the above mentioned characteristics enough to smile, say thank you, and walk away. The .25 Marauder is shrouded, 8 shot repeater, close in power (they are very tuneable), accurate with the Green Mountain barrel and about the same money…most are good. I have only heard of one that had a bad barrel. If you don’t mind the hassle, crosman will take care of you if you get a bad one. (I really like my .25 Marauder! 😀 )
BSA says it designed this gun to compete with rimfires. I believe that. I think these are old stock and are not current production guns. That’s a plus in my book.

They are extremely well made guns…mine has the 23.5″ rifle barrel in .22…it is loud but nothing like a condor…it still sounds like a pingy pellet gun, no you can’t shoot in the neighborhood though…it has been my HUNTING gun for the last few years and has taken all kinds of edible game out there…way out there…seems to like a bunch of different pellets…i use a hill pump and 3250 for a few times in a row doesn’t lend itself to a day at the range…Gamo seems to be discontinuing a bunch of the BSA line…It’s a straight-up hunting rifle…7.8# unscoped
