Bullpup HS Video Recording
I have the Casio EZ FC150 High speed (slo-mo) with the Seben mount (used it for about two years and it works fine – Ted’s old setup) but I would like to get my wife 😀 a nice camcorder for xmas that might double for a slo-mo scope video capture on my bullpups with higher HD quality and slo-mo. I don’t want to build anything other than maybe a simple mount if need be. My max budget is maybe $1500 but I would like to keep it a lot lower as possible. Anyone in the know on these devices and setups with our airguns? Her HD videoing is the primary use. I have been toying with this and the night vision stuff a while off and on.

Here is guy that just put together a couple of adapters together (30-46mm) on a Hawke Sidewinder like all of mine. He said the adapters are made for the Sidewinders but I bet they are available for most scope objective sizes. It just pushes on the scope and screws on the Sony Handycam HDD. Pretty cool. Video looks pretty good. Now I wonder about the High Speed slo-mo? Looks low-light capable at low magnification.
Yes – time to start studying the latest high-feature Sony Handycams and similar setups. The adapter part looks like a piece of cake.
You are on it, I was not yet aware of the handy Cam option to low light. I better get to studying…
For pure night vision I like the Pulsar 750 that Rolaids reviewed but I like this dual use with the Sony Handycams capable of night vision as well. I have no idea of the performance yet. I bet Rolaids knows about this already. I may ping him.
On an aside, the stuff Rolaids Bench is doing over on the Optics section is getting close with the small bullet camera but is all live at this time and we need to record, and slo-mo at that so it has a way to go. Not sure what his frames per second is on that EJ-230 camera setup but worth asking to see. I’ll do it. I am going to build his 3.0 version for night time pest eradication on my P-Rod.
Here is a crude setup with a Sony Handycam and a Hawke scope (she uses the tape method 😆 ). As bad as it is that gives a hint as to what is possible. She is using it for night vision with an add-on IR illuminator as well. She answers a lot of questions in the comments.
I just went through this a couple of weeks ago and again ended up on and buying the casio zr700 and the seban mount. I do plan to fabricate and QD rail mount to reduce the bulk and clean the program up a little. This is a January project, I will come back and show progress as this takes place.

I’m going to pay attention to this one. I’ve been looking and looking all over the net. There’s not much of anything within $1000 that I have found. It’s Casio or big bucks.

My Sony camcorder has 30 mm ring, So I bought 30 mm to 37 mm Step Up Ring Filter Adapter http://www.ebay.com/itm/400325098231?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 . then put this adapter on. It made of Alum. it’s stable. just a little bit big.
