Q:

California lead ban

Assembly Bill 711, is sitting on Governor Browns desk waiting to be signed, its urgent that we get ahold of representatives and make it be known we don’t support this bill. The bill will ban all use of lead for hunting. I Already sent Gov Brown a letter and hope you will do so as well.
I am not to excited about finding out how zink shoots from my big bore, if you know what I mean.

The new law applies to firearms, not air guns. But the camel is in the tent.

Is it just lead bullets or will pellets be affected?

I’m in denial. I’m hoping we’ve got the “good” Californians and not the nanny CA that killed their state.

Thank God! But with all the Cali. Frick’n Wierd flakes taking over Austin, where our laws are made, It’s only a matter of time before we are all fucked! 👿

I prefer lead for many reasons. Thankfully Texas isn’t that crazy.

True That! 😉

Not for pellet guns, well what do you think is next after firearms ammunition? very short sighted!
We as shooters must stick together.

I’m not sure if I saw the final version, but IIRC this is limited to firearms. Stil a bad thing, and I hope the gov vetoes it, but I don’t believe it apples to pellet guns.

Sorry SSS, the higher quality lead free pellets don’t have a polymer case around the core. They are for the most part solid Tin and or zinc. The ones you mention are junk promoted as ultra high velocity pellets and SUCK big time. They have no energy, and scatter at any thing like real hunting ranges.

Lead free is not a good option for bigbore’s and I shoot big bores, I have been working on coming up with something lead free tried 95/5 solder and it is fast not accurate in my 457. im still working on it though Im looking into a bismuth tin mix to see how they will work. I still do not support a stupid decision to try and ban lead, I will not buy higher priced pellets to make some anti happy.

I don’t disagree. I want to shoot lead for safety (squishy) and performance reasons (I have grain envy).

But… The good lead free pellets use a polymers plastic casing to engage the rifling and an alloy for penetration and weight. Just sayin.
