It was a pretty good set up for all my other rifles, however, I needed to test the Dragonslayer and the tight fit in the room didn’t give me enough distance to avoid false readings from muzzle blast… So I pin myself up against the back wall and try to sight down the top of the barrel….
First shot was fine. 520 fps (something told me I better figure something else out, but I was anxious to get some numbers…)
Second shot actually registered before it blew the chrony apart 540 fps.
Okay, rather than come up with the moral of this story, I’ll let you comedians do it for me.[/img] 😳 😳 😳 😳

I think those chrony’s are going to get pretty expensive!
If you really want to do penetration tests, get an ass load of gelatine. You can reuse the gelatine long after you run out of phone books. Just make sure you have room in the fridge as the gelatine needs to stay cool when you’re not blasting it.

That is actually the second time I hit it. If you notice the indent on the left metal peal, that was from a .22 EJ awhile back.
I think I can get an entire kit from Chrony for 40 bucks or so. The circuit board seems to be unharmed. All I would actually need is the plastic housing. Perhaps I could rig something if I can’t find a housing.
The crappy part is that I was all excited to do some chrony/penetration tests via telephone books (I’m sure someone else has done this before…) But The first shot made it through 1,376 pages. (six or so feet from muzzle) The other day, my BSA Scorpion .22 made it through 950 pages at 26 yards using jsb exact 16 gr. When I say made it through I actually mean that was the last page that had a break/rip in the paper.
