can I get more power? Blodnob valve?
Hello,
I have a fully tuned .25 cal condor from talon tunes. Is there anything I can do to get more power. Are the Blodnob valves a good idea? Is there a downside? If so what else do I need with the valve. I read about everyone talking about a new spring. Is that for hammer or valve? I am shooting kodiaks at a about 1050fps and Jerrys 7 ring at 830 fps. Maybe thats all the power I can get. I don’t know and thats why I posted this.

At the muzzle you have 76fpe, at 65 yards you still have 51.5 fpe. That should be able to enter Mr squirrels head and pass out his ass…… 😈

If the shot was from front to back maybe not, if from the side, I’d say most definately.
Well than I believe I’m getting about 107fpe with Jerry’s seven rings. The biggest thing I shoot are raccoons. I know I have enough power for those. It’s not that I need the power as much as want it and want to stay w/.25 until I buy a different gun. I just didn’t want to spend the time and money on a BN if it isn’t going to do anything. Especially after getting it tuned. Should my Kodiaks have exited a squirrels head at 65yds @1050fps?

prolly my memmory or lack there of….i could have sworn that most of my .22lr ammo was doing about 150-160 fpe (its the cheap wallmart stuff for the most)

and yes .25 slugs will prolly have better bc than a .22lr
and yes .25 kills better than .22 kinda funny how much better those .03″ makes so much difference
i can only tell with squirrels….but for them not to run i have to in .22 hit vitals very exactly or brainshot……with .25 and especially with crowmagnums…i can hit them half way down their body and they will drop.
my cousin dropped a 65 pound pig with 42 grain EJ in .25 doing 60-65 fpe with a shot to the noggin….i dropped a 60 pound pig with same setup….and i killed piglet very young pig with AA410 32 fpe with JSB in .22
I wouldn’t be surprised if the .25 slug wasn’t a little higher in BC. Especially if it was slightly pointed. However, the larger diameter, along with the blunt tip makes for much higher impact damage. Something the British use to call the dwell factor when discussing military big bore, slow moving hand gun bullets.
A .25 slug hits a lot harder than a .22 solid .22 Lr. I see the difference on game shot with both here on the property.
I would never go after small to medium wild pigs with a .22 Lr .(Although it will and has worked), But the .25 surefire slugs from Jerry’s Kids will do just fine. Just do put the bullet in the right spot, and get the grill ready! 😀

You might be giving regular .22lr a little too much credit. Most of the loads I looked up were at about 125 FPE max at the muzzle according to the manufacturers. I’m sure there are some hot loads out there but I think the average .22lr is in the 110-130 fpe range tops.
I’d also take another look at BC. The guys getting 110 fpe from their .25 Condors are not shooting pellets but rather they are shooting slugs. Someone with the time, energy and gun can do the math but I suspect that a 71.5gr .25 slug has a BC that compares very favorably to the typical 40gr .22lr slug.

not quite….subsonic .22lr is about 80 fpe….regular .22lr is about 140-160 fpe
also the projectile from a .22lr has a way better BC than a pellet
but a .25 110 fpe pellet gun can be very quiet….and deadly at 100+ yards, so can 50 fpe allthough trajectory would be way more curved

velocity x velocity x weight in grains divided by 450240 = fpe 😉

at 90 to 110 FPE.. you are getting better than .22 LR performance, so anything past that would be exceptional.
You might want to consider moving up to the 9mm when it becomes available. This will acheive true handgun power at short ranges, far beyond our current .25 high end guns.
What is your need? hunting? 100 FPE is enough for most things up to small hogs ( with an accurate shot of course) . Few varmints out there will survice a 100 FPE shot.
Personally I want dime sized accuracy at 50 yards.. over more power.

I believe I have the high flo, if airforce makes them. They told me they put hghflos in my bottles. I would definetly like to use less air because I am pumping. Is the BN a lot of work to install?

Well I was just wondering If I’d be able to push the rounds I’m using a little faster. I wanted to stay with the .25. How do I measure the fpe?

At 1050fps, I’d say you’re right at the sweet spot. You only need another 75fps for the pellet to go supersonic, which creates its own problems in terms of accuracy and noise.
