Q:

Can’t adjust tophat lower than .108

Do I have a bad valve? Should I send it to AF for a replacement? One of the reasons is the brass piece that the stem goes through is .020 below the edge of the valve. If it were level I would still not be able to lower it below .088. What should I do?

Mine has a mile of slack and is set at .074. The breach doesn’t lock on these guns. And even if it did close tight, the force of the hammer would change that instantly as the valve is driven back.

The hammer strikes breach, and the Breach pushes the top hat back. Not the valve body. So go ahead and sit it lower if there are enough threads. Don’t worry about the depth of the valve in refference to the valve body. That doesn’t mean anything either. 😀 The breach doesn’t stride the valve body.

to .080 to start. .136 was just too damn big.

the play thing is correct, but no big deal

They said take set crews all they way out & try & lower th more. She also said that they adjust the th to take up the slack when the breech cover is closed. So if I lower my th there will be more play in the cover, correct?

how far can you adjust it out?

Mod. can you combine double thread.

Thanks

contact airforce and determine whether they stand behind it
if not send it out to TT or somesuch
