Q:

Can use this spacer to make a hammer?

I saw the spacer in lowes. It’s about 100 g and right size for AF hammer. I’m wondering if it can be used to make a good hammer.

Whatever you use, you want it to be softer than the aluminum frame.

The bronze one RC is referring to I bought at ACE. Its slighly under 1″ in diameter and weighed somewhere around 78 grams.
I trimmmed it slightly and now it weighs 75g.
Been using it with no problems at all for 3 years now. It hasn’t deformed or left any deposits in the frame. Works very well for me.

Interesting thing is, these are known as self-lubing bushings. If you heat one up, black oil seeps out of it. It does appear to keep itself moving freely inside the frame and like I said doesn’t appear to leave anything behind but maybe I dont wait long enough to find out. I clean the gun up at least once a month.

Charlie,

I have never used the steel ones but I have used the bronze one a few years ago.
