Can you install a release trigger on one of these puppies??
I’ve never had one but I think it would be pretty neat.. thanks!

I HAD A RELEASE LIKE THAT FOR MY ARCHAREY RIG YOU COULD SET IT TO DO RELEASE AFTER YOU PUSHED DOWN ON IT AND LET OFF
You never see release triggers on firearms that require a solid backstop to catch the projo. Set triggers are good, as are many single and 2-stage.
Yep. One target moving at approximately 100 mph at unknown angle and elevation. The majority of birds are broken with first shot, but the second barrel has the same validity and often makes the difference between placing or not. Both barrels are fired in less than 1 second…
You’re not kidding about finding a range or squad, its hard to find in the country, let alone in town. I try my best to find new talent but OT can be a very humiliating experience for an accomplished ATA shooter. I’ve taken AAA shooters to shoot OT and none have been able to do better than 8 out of 25 birds. When I’m home in the US I always try to get to Ft Benning or Ft Carson where I know I can practice and play…
Ah, a bunker guy, generally elitists in and elitist game. Note the basic absence of bunker fields here ’bouts? Have trouble getting up a squad in a strange town?
For those who don’t know, this sport (popular in Europe) is a walking delight. It needs 15 machines per field (rather than one for ATA Trap, or two for skeet), thows the bird faster from fixed machines, and gives you a second shot (guys tend to miss sometimes…..ATA allows only a single shot except in doubles)
Yes, guys eventually go straight at 16, which is what handicap is all about.
Us mortals shoot ‘wobble trap’ or ‘continental’ to simulate this on less than a few acres of ground with less equipment. Different game. Say ‘trap’ in the US and you’re talking ATA trap.

It wasn’t meant to be fair, it was meant to ridicule and flush out ATA shooters who think AT is trap shooting 😆 Real trapshooters shoot olympic trap !!! I know quite a bit about trap shooting. Olympic trap is sometimes referred to as bunker trap. Shooting 25 straight in ATA is common place… 12 year old little girls can do it. 25 straight in olympic trap is quite a different story. I have a B25 that has over 500,000 shells through it and an MX8 that should reach the 200,000 mark before the year is out.
I strongly encourage all to try OT… its addictive and very challenging. Unfortunately, it is not widely practiced in the US due to the limited number of ranges (related to the cost of equipment/setup).
BTW I don’t think a release trigger will work for OT as you use two barrels.
I don’t think that’s quite fair. The fact is many of the very top AA shooters use release triggers. Only the finest trap guns offer them as options. Know where to get one for a Rem 870? It is definitely a ‘trap only’ deal and has to do with eliminating that last miss or two in hundreds straight.
I’m going to assume you don’t shoot trap, or you’d know that trigger control is not a part of the sport (or any shotgun shooting for that matter). It’s not “sight picture and trigger control” like it is for rifle and handgun, but “stance, mount, swing to target, trigger pull (a ‘slap’ not a ‘surprise break’) and follow through”. No trigger control about it. Check it out.
Or better still, take your gun up to the local club and shoot a few rounds. By the time you can go 25 straight you’ll learn a bit about who knows how to shoot the sport and who doesn’t.

Release triggers are sometimes used in trapshooting… by those that don’t know how to control trigger or flinching… aka people who don’t know how to shoot trap.
thats right, you pull the trigger, and then while letting off the gun fires, no more flinching or pulling the shots!!
There is no putting it back on safety, once you pull the trigger you are committed, they are more for target shooting instead of hunting..
By “release trigger” are you meaning the same as a “set trigger”, or literally a “release”; where you pull and hold the trigger but the gun doesn’t fire until letting tension off the trigger?

That’s easy. Just wedge a stick in there between the trigger and guard. 😉
Never heard of one either. So how do you go about getting back to safety if deciding not to take a shot ?
Its a trigger that fires when you let off, no more pulling your shots off target..

What a great idea! Use skunk scent coated arrows along with those cricket noise nocks and easily track game after a shot.
