Q:

Carbon tank question

I’ve seen a few scba tanks for sale and have noticedthem say something I’m not familiar with. What does “30 min” mean? Sorry to have to ask, but I can’t figure it out.

30 minute = 44 cubic feet
45 minute = 66 cubic feet
60 minute = 88 cubic feet

A 30 min tank is referring to the size of the tank and air pressure.

In fire fighting it is the approx time a normal size, in shape fire fighter can work and breath air from the bottle.

At my work we use 45min bottles

I’m sure it could be explained better but the clue is “SCBA” stands for self contained breathing apparatus. The designed use for light weight emergency rescue air supply when regulated for breathing would be have an approximate time of usefullness. The size of tank you refered to was rated for 30 minutes.
