casting for 22 cal, Atten; Jerry and others
hello again. Merry Christmas.
Have you ever messed around with casting 22 .s for airguns, i am a bullet caster , i cast for all my handgun cal. s 380,9mm,38,40,45,41,44, and 30 cal , 7mm , 338 , in rifle.
I have not played around with 22 cal in rifle , i have a tc contender super 14 that i had been thinking of casting for.
the rifling will not support the 30 grain or lighter bullets. that i have tried .i bought some 30g.bullets at cabela’s in the muzzleloading section,and they will shoot 1” at 25 yards to 1 /1/2”. I have tried several different powder loads and i think the rifling will not support this light of a bullet.
I also tried 22 cal pellets in 222, they are 2” to 3” at best , with no powder, just the primer,any faster and the groups open up. 374 fps with the primer .
So i figured that i need a mould for a 50 grain or 55g bullet.
Any way i was wondering about ordering a mould for the 22 condor , with the .217 or .219 size. i beleive my barrel slugs at .217.
DO you have any experience with 22 casting, i know it would be a pain, and i dont know how it would work with pure lead . I would only want to do this for heavyer pellets say 35grain or up.

Now I know there are some that will do this for you, the trick if your really after some fun as well as some really serious fun along with all this, get them to make you the sizer of your choice for these as well dude…
If you can spend the money of coarse… Moeny gets in the way of everything around here, so I just do things I want bad enough to get exactly what I am wanting, otherwise I will wait till I can LOL…
Here is a guy in the UK that does the sizers, you just have to tell him what diameter you want and what your after… I am not sure if this guy does the mold also or not… He has done some for the guys in the US before I was told when I was given this addy to him… Not sure if this will help you or not, but maybe it does… I just know I was going to do this a few years ago to make some heavier .22 pellets, things got to busy around here and I don’t have time to wipe my on you know what, let alone cast and size pellets LOL…
Try Lee sometime back they made a mold for someone in .177 it did not work out it was the design i think that was off
Sorry, no experience with anything less than .25 here. I’m sure it can be done though. You might have trouble finding a company willing to make a mold that small depending on the design.

Not that small either but you might look here for a mold and if you did not know it Lee will make resizer dies that are not listed for about $ 30.00.Marvin
