Casting with a vibrator
I hear a lot of complaints about bad castings. Has anyone tried casting with a high frequency vibrator table ? We use them all the time for settling of material.

Good points, besides a little bit of tin reduces the surface tension of lead and allows good fill out in combination with temperature control and technique.
But the burning question is: Does your wife sit on the table all the time and talk too much? 😆
A few problems come to mind.
You would have to clamp the mold to the table to transfer the vibration.
You are pouring hot lead into a vibrating cavity, when its full will it spatter all over the place?
The table will act as a big heat sink.
Lead sets up almost immediately after the pour. I do not see vibration helping to fill the mold better than good temperature control.
We have a vibrating table for casting concrete garden statuary. You have to get the setting just right or you get gritty water splattered all over you.
Possibly you are speaking of a different type of table than what we have?

HELLO NO……cause then my wife would always be sitting on that table….talking way too damn much.
But seriously, i do kinda shake my mould after the pour to (in my mind) get all or any of the voids filled. But that’s probably not what you were talking about…lol
yea, you made it very hard for me to take the high road here, but ill just leave it go, except to say, thatd likely be one airgun related item my old lady wont bitch about… 😆
Maybe that is why I like casting. 😳

Interesting, I wonder if that would work. We’ve found proper temperature control of lead and molds works well but maybe an ultrasonic vibrator could help someone?
